Psalm 138

I Will Give Thanks to Your Name

Of David.

138 (A)I will give You thanks with all my heart;
I will sing praises to You before the (B)gods.
I will worship (C)toward Your holy temple
And (D)give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your [a]truth;
For You have (E)magnified Your [b]word [c]according to all Your name.
On the day I (F)called, You answered me;
You made me bold with (G)strength in my soul.

(H)All the kings of the earth, O Yahweh, will give You thanks,
When they hear the words of Your mouth.
And they will (I)sing of the ways of Yahweh,
For (J)great is the glory of Yahweh.
For (K)Yahweh is high,
Yet He (L)sees the lowly,
But the (M)one who exalts himself He knows from afar.

Though I (N)walk in the midst of [d]distress, You will [e](O)revive me;
You will (P)stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
And Your right hand will (Q)save me.
Yahweh will (R)accomplish what concerns me;
O Yahweh, Your (S)lovingkindness endures forever;
(T)Do not fail the (U)works of Your hands.

Ezekiel 28:11-19

Lament over the King of Tyre

11 Again the word of Yahweh came to me saying, 12 “Son of man, (A)take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre and say to him, ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh,

“You [a]had the seal of perfection,
Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in (B)Eden, the garden of God;
(C)Every precious stone was your covering:
The (D)ruby, the topaz, and the diamond;
The beryl, the onyx, and the jasper;
The [b]lapis lazuli, the turquoise, and the emerald;
And the gold, the workmanship of your [c](E)settings and [d]sockets,
Was in you.
On the day that you were created
They were prepared.
14 You were the (F)anointed cherub who [e]covers,
And I placed you there.
You were on the holy (G)mountain of God;
You walked in the midst of the (H)stones of fire.
15 You were (I)blameless in your ways
From the day you were created
Until (J)unrighteousness was found in you.
16 By the (K)abundance of your trade
[f]You were internally (L)filled with violence,
And you sinned;
Therefore I have cast you as profane
From the mountain of God.
And I have destroyed you, O [g]covering cherub,
From the midst of the stones of fire.
17 Your heart was lofty because of your (M)beauty;
You (N)corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor.
I cast you to the ground;
I put you before (O)kings,
That they may see you.
18 By the abundance of your iniquities,
In the unrighteousness of your trade
You profaned your sanctuaries.
Therefore I have brought out (P)fire from the midst of you;
It has consumed you,
And I have turned you to (Q)ashes on the earth
In the eyes of all who see you.
19 All who know you among the peoples
Are appalled at you;
You have become [h](R)terrified,
And you will cease to be (S)forever.”’”

1 Corinthians 6:1-11

Lawsuits Among Believers

Does any one of you, when he has a [a]case against another, dare to be tried before the unrighteous and (A)not before the [b]saints? Or (B)do you not know that (C)the [c]saints will judge (D)the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not worthy to [d]constitute the smallest law courts? (E)Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life? So if you have law courts dealing with matters of this life, do you appoint those who are of no account in the church as judges? (F)I say this to your shame. Is it really this way: there is not one wise man among you who will be able to pass judgment between his (G)brothers? On the contrary, brother is tried with brother, and that before (H)unbelievers!

Actually, then, it is already a failure for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. (I)Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded? On the contrary, you yourselves wrong and defraud. You do this even to your (J)brothers.

Or (K)do you not know that the unrighteous will not (L)inherit the kingdom of God? (M)Do not be deceived; (N)neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor [e]effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will (O)inherit the kingdom of God. 11 (P)And such were some of you; but you were (Q)washed, but you were (R)sanctified, but you were (S)justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
