Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
8 I will listen to what the LORD God will say. For He will speak peace to His people, and to His saints, so that they do not turn again to folly.
9 Surely, His salvation is near to those who fear Him, so that glory may dwell in our land.
10 Mercy and truth shall meet, righteousness and peace shall kiss.
11 Truth shall bud out of the Earth and righteousness shall look down from Heaven.
12 Indeed, the LORD shall give good things and our land shall give her increase.
13 Righteousness shall go before Him and shall set her steps in the way. A prayer of David
41 And Elijah said to Ahab, “Get up. Eat and drink. For there is a sound of much rain.”
42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel. And he crouched to the earth, and put his face between his knees,
43 and said to his servant, “Go up, now, and look toward the way of the sea.” And he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” Again, he said, “Go back seven times.”
44 And on the seventh time, he said, “Behold, there arises a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand.” Then he said, “Up! And say to Ahab, ‘Make ready. And get yourself down, so that the rain does not stop you.’”
45 And in the meantime, the sky was black with clouds and wind. And there was a heavy rain. Then Ahab went up and came to Jezreel.
46 And the Hand of the LORD was on Elijah. And he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab until he came to Jezreel.
16 Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came and tempted Him, desiring Him to show them a sign from Heaven.
2 But He answered, and said to them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘Fair weather, for the sky is red.’
3 And in the morning, ‘Storm today. For the sky is red and overcast.’ O, hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky. And can you not discern the signs of the times?
4 “The wicked and adulterous generation seeks a sign. But there shall be no sign given it, except that sign of the Prophet Jonah.” So, He left them and departed.
