Psalm 119:129-136

PE

129 Your Testimonies are wonderful. Therefore, my soul keeps them.

130 The entrance into Your Words shows light and gives understanding to the simple.

131 I opened my mouth and panted, because I loved Your Commandments.

132 Look upon me and be merciful to me, as you used to do to those who love Your Name.

133 Direct my steps in Your Word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me.

134 Deliver me from the oppression of men, and I will keep Your Precepts.

135 Show the light of Your Countenance upon Your servant; and teach me Your Statutes.

136 My eyes gush out with rivers of water because they do not keep Your Law.

1 Kings 1:38-48

38 So Zadok the Priest and Nathan the Prophet and Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride upon King David’s mule and brought him to Gihon.

39 And Zadok the Priest took a horn of oil out of the Tabernacle and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet. And all the people said, “God save King Solomon!”

40 And all the people came up after him. And the people played on flutes and rejoiced with great joy, so that the Earth rang with the sound of them.

41 And Adonijah, and all the guests who were with him, heard it (and they had finished eating). And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, “What does this noise and uproar in the city mean?”

42 And as he spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the Priest came. And Adonijah said, “Come in. For you are a worthy man, and bring good news.”

43 And Jonathan answered, and said to Adonijah, “No. Our lord, King David, has made Solomon king.

44 “And the king has sent Zadok the Priest with him, and Nathan the Prophet and Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites. And they have had him ride upon the king’s mule.

45 “And Zadok the Priest and Nathan the Prophet have anointed him king in Gihon. And they have gone up from there with joy. And the city is moved. This is the noise that you have heard.

46 “And Solomon also sits on the throne of the kingdom.

47 “And moreover, the king’s servants came to bless our lord, King David, saying, ‘God make the name of Solomon more famous than your name, and exalt his throne above your throne.’ Therefore, the king worshipped upon the bed.

48 “And thus said the king also, ‘Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who has made one to sit on my throne this day, even in my sight.’”

Acts 7:44-53

44 “Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as He had appointed; speaking to Moses so that he would make it according to the pattern which he had seen,

45 “which our fathers also received and (with Joshua) brought into the land possessed by the Gentiles, whom God drove out before our fathers until the days of David,

46 “who found favor before God, and desired that he might find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

47 “But Solomon built him a house.

48 “However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands. As says the Prophet,

49 ‘Heaven is My throne. And Earth is My footstool. What house will you build for Me?’, says the Lord. ‘Or, what place is it that I should rest in?

50 ‘Has not My hand made all these things?’

51 “You stiff-necked! With uncircumcised hearts and ears! You have always resisted the Holy Ghost. As your fathers did, so do you!

52 “Which of the Prophets have your fathers not persecuted? And they have killed those who foretold of the coming of the Just One, Of Whom you are now the betrayers and murderers.

53 “Who have received the law by the ordinance of angels and have not kept it.”
