Psalm 92

God’s Love and Faithfulness

A psalm. A song for the Sabbath day.

It is good to praise Yahweh,
to sing praise to Your name, Most High,(A)
to declare Your faithful love in the morning
and Your faithfulness at night,(B)
with a ten-stringed harp
and the music of a lyre.(C)

For You have made me rejoice, Lord,
by what You have done;
I will shout for joy
because of the works of Your hands.(D)
How magnificent are Your works, Lord,
how profound Your thoughts!(E)
A stupid person does not know,
a fool does not understand this:(F)
though the wicked sprout like grass
and all evildoers flourish,
they will be eternally destroyed.(G)
But You, Lord, are exalted forever.(H)
For indeed, Lord, Your enemies—
indeed, Your enemies will perish;
all evildoers will be scattered.(I)
10 You have lifted up my horn(J)
like that of a wild ox;
I have been anointed[a] with oil.(K)
11 My eyes look down on my enemies;
my ears hear evildoers when they attack me.(L)

12 The righteous thrive like a palm tree
and grow like a cedar tree in Lebanon.(M)
13 Planted in the house of the Lord,
they thrive in the courts of our God.(N)
14 They will still bear fruit in old age,
healthy and green,(O)
15 to declare: “The Lord is just;
He is my rock,
and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”(P)

Leviticus 26:3-20

“If you follow My statutes and faithfully observe My commands, I will give you rain at the right time, and the land will yield its produce, and the trees of the field will bear their fruit. Your threshing will continue until grape harvest, and the grape harvest will continue until sowing time; you will have plenty of food to eat and live securely in your land.(A) I will give peace to the land, and you will lie down with nothing to frighten you. I will remove dangerous animals from the land, and no sword will pass through your land.(B) You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall before you by the sword. Five of you will pursue 100, and 100 of you will pursue 10,000; your enemies will fall before you by the sword.(C)

“I will turn to you, make you fruitful and multiply you, and confirm My covenant with you. 10 You will eat the old grain of the previous year and will clear out the old to make room for the new. 11 I will place My residence[a] among you, and I will not reject you.(D) 12 I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be My people.(E) 13 I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, so that you would no longer be their slaves. I broke the bars of your yoke(F) and enabled you to live in freedom.[b]

14 “But if you do not obey Me and observe all these commands— 15 if you reject My statutes and despise My ordinances, and do not observe all My commands—and break My covenant, 16 then I will do this to you: I will bring terror(G) on you—wasting disease and fever that will cause your eyes to fail and your life to ebb away. You will sow your seed in vain because your enemies will eat it. 17 I will turn[c] against you, so that you will be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even though no one is pursuing you.(H)

18 “But if after these things you will not obey Me, I will proceed to discipline you seven times for your sins.(I) 19 I will break down your strong pride. I will make your sky like iron and your land like bronze, 20 and your strength will be used up for nothing.(J) Your land will not yield its produce, and the trees of the land will not bear their fruit.

1 Thessalonians 4:1-8

The Call to Sanctification

Finally then, brothers, we ask and encourage you in the Lord Jesus, that as you have received from us how you must walk and please God—as you are doing[a]—do so even more. For you know what commands we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

For this is God’s will,(A) your sanctification:(B) that you abstain(C) from sexual immorality, so that each of you knows how to control his own body[b] in sanctification and honor, not with lustful desires,(D) like the Gentiles who don’t know God. This means one must not transgress against and defraud(E) his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger of all these offenses,[c] as we also previously told and warned you. For God has not called us to impurity(F) but to sanctification. Therefore, the person who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who also gives you His Holy Spirit.(G)
