Psalm 93

God’s Eternal Reign

The Lord reigns! He is robed in majesty;
The Lord is robed, enveloped in strength.
The world is firmly established;
it cannot be shaken.(A)
Your throne has been established
from the beginning;[a]
You are from eternity.(B)
The floods have lifted up, Lord,
the floods have lifted up their voice;
the floods lift up their pounding waves.(C)
Greater than the roar of many waters—
the mighty breakers of the sea—
the Lord on high is majestic.(D)

Lord, Your testimonies are completely reliable;(E)
holiness is the beauty of[b] Your house
for all the days to come.(F)

Genesis 9:8-17

Then God said to Noah and his sons with him, “Understand that I am confirming My covenant(A) with you and your descendants after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you—birds, livestock, and all wildlife of the earth that are with you—all the animals of the earth that came out of the ark. 11 I confirm My covenant with you that never again will every creature be wiped out by the waters of a flood; there will never again be a flood to destroy the earth.”(B)

12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant(C) I am making between Me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all future generations: 13 I have placed My bow in the clouds,(D) and it will be a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. 14 Whenever I form clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember My covenant(E) between Me and you and all the living creatures:[a] water will never again become a flood to destroy every creature. 16 The bow will be in the clouds, and I will look at it and remember the everlasting covenant(F) between God and all the living creatures[b] on earth.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have confirmed between Me and every creature on earth.”

Acts 27:39-44

Shipwreck

39 When daylight came, they did not recognize the land but sighted a bay with a beach. They planned to run the ship ashore if they could.(A) 40 After casting off the anchors, they left them in the sea, at the same time loosening the ropes that held the rudders. Then they hoisted the foresail to the wind and headed for the beach. 41 But they struck a sandbar and ran the ship aground. The bow jammed fast and remained immovable, while the stern began to break up by the pounding of the waves.

42 The soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners so that no one could swim away and escape. 43 But the centurion kept them from carrying out their plan because he wanted to save Paul, so he ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land. 44 The rest were to follow, some on planks and some on debris from the ship. In this way, everyone safely reached the shore.(B)
