To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

31 In thee, Jehovah, do I trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.

² Incline thine ear to me, deliver me speedily; be a strong rock to me, a house of defence to save me.

³ For thou art my rock and my fortress; and, for thy name's sake, thou wilt lead me and guide me.

⁴ Draw me out of the net that they have hidden for me; for thou art my strength.

⁵ Into thy hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, Jehovah, [thou] God of truth.

¹⁵ My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from my persecutors.

¹⁶ Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; save me in thy loving-kindness.

12 And Jehovah had said to Abram, Go out of thy land, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, to the land that I will shew thee.

² And I will make of thee a great nation, and bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.

³ And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

⁸ And Stephen, full of grace and power, wrought wonders and great signs among the people.

⁹ And there arose up certain of those of the synagogue called of freedmen, and of Cyrenians, and of Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia, disputing with Stephen.

¹⁰ And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.

¹¹ Then they suborned men, saying, We have heard him speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God.

¹² And they roused the people, and the elders, and the scribes. And coming upon [him] they seized him and brought [him] to the council.

¹³ And they set false witnesses, saying, This man does not cease speaking words against the holy place and the law;

¹⁴ for we have heard him saying, This Jesus the Nazaraean shall destroy this place, and change the customs which Moses taught us.

¹⁵ And all who sat in the council, looking fixedly on him, saw his face as [the] face of an angel.
