42 “Behold, My Servant. I will stay upon Him, My Elect, in Whom My Soul delights. I have put My Spirit upon Him. He shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

² “He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause His Voice to be heard in the street.

³ “A bruised reed He shall not break, and the smoking flax He shall not quench. He shall bring forth judgment in truth.

⁴ “He shall not fail or be discouraged until He has set judgment on the Earth. And the isles shall wait for His Law.”

⁵ Thus says God, the LORD (He Who created the heavens and spread them out. He Who stretched forth the Earth, and its buds. He Who gives breath to the people upon it, and spirit to those who walk in it),

⁶ “I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness, and will hold your hand. And I will keep you, and give you as a covenant to the people, for a light to the Gentiles,

⁷ “so that you may open the eyes of the blind and bring out the prisoners from the prison, and those who sit in darkness out of the prison house.

⁸ “I am the LORD. This is My Name and I will not give My Glory to another, or My Praise to graven images.

⁹ “Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare. Before they come forth, I tell you of them.”

⁵ Your mercy, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, and Your faithfulness to the clouds.

⁶ Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains. Your judgments are like a great deep. You, LORD, save man and beast.

⁷ How excellent is Your mercy, O God! Therefore, the children of men trust under the shadow of Your wings.

⁸ They shall be satisfied with the fatness of Your House; and You shall give them drink out of the river of Your pleasures.

⁹ For with You is the well of life; and in Your Light shall we see light.

¹⁰ Extend Your lovingkindness to those who know You, and Your righteousness to those who are upright in heart.

¹¹ Do not let the foot of pride come against me; and do not let the hand of the wicked men move me.

¹¹ But Christ - being a High Priest of good things to come - came by a greater and more perfect Tabernacle (not made with hands - that is, not of this creation -

¹² nor by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood), entering in once to the Holy Place and obtaining eternal redemption.

¹³ For if the sprinkling of the blood of bulls and goats, and the ashes of a heifer, sanctifies those who are unclean (as touching the purifying of the flesh),

¹⁴ how much more shall the blood of Christ - Who, through the eternal Spirit, offered Himself without fault to God - purge your conscience from dead works, to serve the living God?

¹⁵ And because of this, He is the Mediator of the new Testament, so that through death (which was for the redemption of the transgressions in the former Testament) those who were called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

12 Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was; who had died and whom He had raised from the dead.

² There they made Him a supper, and Martha served. But Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him.

³ Then Mary took a pound of ointment of Spikenard (very costly) and anointed Jesus’ feet, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.

⁴ Then one of His disciples who would betray him, Judas Iscariot (son of Simon) said,

⁵ “Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred denari and given to the poor?”

⁶ Now, he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and held that which was given.

⁷ Then Jesus said, “Let her alone. She kept it for the day of My burying.

⁸ “For the poor you have with you always. But Me you shall not have always.”

⁹ Then many of the Jews knew that He was there. And they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom He had raised from the dead.

¹⁰ Therefore, the chief priests consulted, so that they might put Lazarus to death also,

¹¹ because many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus because of him.
