Psalm 128

Blessed Is Everyone Who Fears Yahweh

A song of ascents.[a]

128 Blessed is everyone who fears Yahweh,
who walks in his ways.
You will indeed eat of the labor of your hands;
you will be happy and it will be well with you.
Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within[b] your house.
Your children[c] will be like olive shoots
about your table.
Look, for thus shall a man be blessed
who fears Yahweh.[d]
May Yahweh bless you from Zion,
that you may see the good of Jerusalem
all the days of your life,
and that you may see your children’s children.
May peace be upon Israel.

Ezekiel 36:22-32

22 “Therefore thus say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “Not for your sake [a] am I about to act, house of Israel, but[b] for my holy name,[c] which you defiled among the nations to which you went.[d] 23 And I will consecrate my great name, which was profaned among the nations and which you have profaned in the midst of them, and the nations will know that I am Yahweh!”’ a declaration of the Lord Yahweh, when I show myself holy[e] before[f] their eyes.

24 “‘And I will take you from the nations, and I will gather you from all of the lands, and I will bring you to your land. 25 And I will sprinkle on you pure water, and you will be clean from all of your uncleanness, and I will cleanse you from all of your idols. 26 And I will give a new heart to you, and a new spirit I will give[g] into your inner parts, and I will remove the[h] heart of stone from your flesh, and I will give to you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will give[i] my spirit into your inner parts, and I will make it so that you will go[j] in my rules, and my regulations you will remember, and you will do them. 28 And you will dwell in the land that I gave to your ancestors,[k] and you will be to me as a people, and I will be to you as[l] God. 29 And I will save you from all of your uncleanness, and I will call to the grain, and I will cause it to increase, and I will not bring famine upon you. 30 And I will cause the fruit of the tree and the crop of the field to increase, so that you will not suffer again the disgrace of famine among the nations. 31 And you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good, and you will loathe yourself[m] over[n] your iniquities and over your detestable things. 32 But not for your sake am I acting,” declares[o] the Lord Yahweh. “Let it be known to you, be ashamed, and be put to shame because of your ways, house of Israel.

John 7:53-8:11

A Woman Caught in Adultery

But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Now early in the morning he came again to the temple courts.[b] And all the people were coming,[c] and he sat down and[d] began to teach[e] them.

Now the scribes and the Pharisees brought to him a woman[f] caught in adultery. And standing her in their midst, they said to him, testing him,[g] “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery! Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?” (Now they were saying this to test him, so that they would have an occasion[h] to bring charges against him.) But Jesus, bending down, began to write[i] with his[j] finger on the ground, taking no notice.[k] And when they persisted in asking him, straightening up he said[l] to them, “The one of you without sin, let him throw the first stone at her!” And bending down again, he wrote on the ground. Now when they[m] heard it,[n] being convicted by their conscience,[o] they began to depart,[p] one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus[q] was left alone—and the woman who was in their midst. 10 So Jesus, straightening up and seeing no one except the woman,[r] said to her, “Where are those accusers of yours?[s] Does no one condemn you?” 11 And she said, “No one, Lord.” So Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go, and[t] sin no more.”]][u]
