Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
12 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, “Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee.
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”
4 So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken unto him, and Lot went with him; and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
121 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help!
2 My help cometh from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not permit thy foot to be moved; He that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is thy keeper; the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil; He shall preserve thy soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
4 What shall we say then that Abraham our father hath found pertaining to the flesh?
2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath reason to glory, but not before God.
3 For what saith the Scripture? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.”
4 Now to him that worketh, his reward is reckoned not according to grace, but according to debt.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth in Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness,
13 For the promise that he should be the heir of the world came not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
14 For if those who are of the law be heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no effect,
15 because the law worketh wrath; for where there is no law, there is no transgression.
16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be given by grace to the end that the promise might be made sure to all the seed, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all
17 (as it is written: “I have made thee a father of many nations”), in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead and calleth those things which are not, as though they were.
3 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
2 The same came to Jesus by night and said unto Him, “Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God; for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, unless God be with him.”
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, “Verily, verily I say unto thee, unless a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus said unto Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
5 Jesus answered, “Verily, verily I say unto thee, unless a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, ‘Ye must be born again.’
8 The wind bloweth where it will, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.”
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto Him, “How can these things be?”
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, “Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
11 Verily, verily I say unto thee, we speak what we know and testify what we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things and ye believe not, how shall ye believe if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 And no man hath ascended up to Heaven, but He that came down from Heaven, even the Son of Man who is in Heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
15 that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
17 And after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up onto a high mountain apart.
2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone as the sun, and His raiment was white as the light.
3 And behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah, talking with Him.
4 Then answered Peter and said unto Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If Thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles: one for Thee and one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
5 While he yet spoke, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. And behold, a voice out of the cloud, said, “This Is My Beloved Son In Whom I Am Well Pleased. Hear Ye Him!”
6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were sore afraid.
7 And Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and be not afraid.”
8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, “Tell the vision to no man until the Son of Man be risen again from the dead.”
