Version
Psalm 119:105-112

נ Nun

105 Your word is a lamp for my feet(A)
and a light on my path.
106 I have solemnly sworn(B)
to keep Your righteous judgments.
107 I am severely afflicted;
Lord, give me life through Your word.(C)
108 Lord, please accept my willing offerings of praise,(D)
and teach me Your judgments.(E)
109 My life is constantly in danger,[a]
yet I do not forget Your instruction.(F)
110 The wicked have set a trap for me,(G)
but I have not wandered from Your precepts.(H)
111 I have Your decrees as a heritage forever;
indeed, they are the joy of my heart.(I)
112 I am resolved to obey Your statutes
to the very end.[b](J)

Proverbs 6:6-23

Laziness

Go to the ant,(A) you slacker!(B)
Observe its ways and become wise.
Without leader, administrator, or ruler,
it prepares its provisions in summer;
it gathers its food during harvest.(C)
How long will you stay in bed, you slacker?
When will you get up from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the arms to rest,(D)
11 and your poverty will come like a robber,
your need, like a bandit.(E)

The Malicious Man

12 A worthless person,(F) a wicked man
goes around speaking dishonestly,(G)
13 winking(H) his eyes, signaling with his feet,
and gesturing with his fingers.
14 He always plots evil(I) with perversity in his heart—
he stirs up trouble.(J)
15 Therefore calamity will strike him suddenly;
he will be shattered instantly—beyond recovery.(K)

What the Lord Hates

16 The Lord hates six things;
in fact, seven are detestable to Him:
17 arrogant eyes,(L) a lying tongue,(M)
hands that shed innocent blood,(N)
18 a heart that plots wicked schemes,(O)
feet eager to run to evil,(P)
19 a lying witness who gives false testimony,(Q)
and one who stirs up trouble among brothers.(R)

Warning against Adultery

20 My son, keep your father’s command,
and don’t reject your mother’s teaching.(S)
21 Always bind them to your heart;
tie them around your neck.(T)
22 When you walk here and there, they will guide you;
when you lie down, they will watch over you;
when you wake up, they will talk to you.
23 For a command is a lamp, teaching is a light,(U)
and corrective discipline is the way to life.(V)

John 8:12-30

The Light of the World

12 Then Jesus spoke to them again: “I am(A) the light(B) of the world. Anyone who follows Me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”(C)

13 So the Pharisees said to Him, “You are testifying about Yourself. Your testimony is not valid.”[a]

14 “Even if I testify about Myself,” Jesus replied, “My testimony is valid,[b] because I know where I came from and where I’m going. But you don’t know where I come from or where I’m going.(D) 15 You judge(E) by human standards.[c](F) I judge no one.(G) 16 And if I do judge, My judgment is true, because I am not alone, but I and the Father who sent Me judge(H) together.(I) 17 Even in your law it is written that the witness of two men is valid.(J) 18 I am the One who testifies(K) about Myself, and the Father who sent Me testifies about Me.”

19 Then they asked Him, “Where is Your Father?”

“You know neither Me nor My Father,”(L) Jesus answered. “If you knew Me, you would also know My Father.”(M) 20 He spoke these words by the treasury,[d](N) while teaching in the temple complex. But no one seized Him, because His hour[e] had not come.

Jesus Predicts His Departure

21 Then He said to them again, “I’m going away;(O) you will look for Me, and you will die in your sin.(P) Where I’m going, you cannot come.”(Q)

22 So the Jews said again, “He won’t kill Himself, will He, since He says, ‘Where I’m going, you cannot come’(R)?”

23 “You are from below,” He told them, “I am from above.(S) You are of this world;(T) I am not of this world.(U) 24 Therefore I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am He,[f] you will die in your sins.”

25 “Who are You?” they questioned.

“Precisely what I’ve been telling you from the very beginning,” Jesus told them. 26 “I have many things to say and to judge about you, but the One who sent Me(V) is true, and what I have heard from Him—these things I tell the world.”(W)

27 They did not know He was speaking to them about the Father. 28 So Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man,(X) then you will know that I am(Y) He, and that I do nothing on My own.(Z) But just as the Father taught Me, I say these things. 29 The One who sent Me is with Me. He has not left Me alone,(AA) because I always do what pleases Him.”

Truth and Freedom

30 As He was saying these things, many believed in Him.
