Psalm 119:105-112

NUN

105 Thy word is a [a]lantern unto my feet, and a light unto my paths.

106 I have [b]sworn and will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.

107 I am very sore afflicted: O Lord, quicken me according to thy word.

108 O Lord, I beseech thee, accept the [c]free offering of my mouth, and teach me thy judgments.

109 My [d]soul is continually in mine hand: yet do I not forget thy law.

110 The wicked have laid a snare for me: but I swerved not from thy precepts.

111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an [e]heritage forever: for they are the joy of mine heart.

112 I have applied mine heart to fulfill thy statutes always, even unto the end.

2 Kings 23:1-8

23 2 Josiah readeth the Law before the people. 3 He maketh a covenant with the Lord. 4 He putteth down the idols, after he had killed their Priests. 22 He keepeth Passover. 24 He destroyeth the conjurers. 29 He was killed in Megiddo. 30 And his son Jehoahaz reigneth in his stead. 33 After he was taken, his son Jehoiakim was made King.

Then (A)the King [a]sent, and there gathered unto him all the Elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

And the king went up into the house of the Lord, with all the men of Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the Priests and Prophets, and all the people both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant, which was found in the house of the Lord.

And the king stood by [b]the pillar, and made a [c]covenant before the Lord, that they should walk after the Lord, and keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all their heart, and with all their soul, that they might accomplish the words of this covenant written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

Then the king commanded Hilkiah the high [d]Priest, and the Priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven, and he burnt them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried [e]the powder of them into Bethel.

And he put down the [f]Chemarims, whom the kings of Judah had founded to burn incense in the high places, and in the cities of Judah and about Jerusalem, and also them that burnt incense unto Baal, to the sun and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.

And he brought out the [g]grove from the Temple of the Lord, without Jerusalem unto the valley of Kidron, and burnt it in the valley Kidron, and stamped it to powder, and cast the dust thereof upon the [h]graves of the children of the people.

And he brake down the houses of the Sodomites, that were in the house of the Lord, where the women wove hangings for the grove.

Also he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the Priests had burnt incense, even from Geba to Beersheba, and destroyed the high places of the gates, that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which was at the left hand of the gate of the city.

2 Kings 23:21-25

21 ¶ Then the king commanded all the people, saying, (A)Keep the Passover unto the Lord your God, (B)as it is written in the book of this covenant.

22 And there was no Passover holden [a]like that from the days of the Judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, and of the kings of Judah.

23 And in the eighteenth year of King Josiah was this Passover celebrated to the Lord in Jerusalem.

24 Josiah also took away them that had familiar spirits, and the soothsayers, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were espied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, to perform the words of the (C)Law, which were written in the book that Hilkiah the Priest found in the house of the Lord.

25 Like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might according to all the Law of Moses, neither after him arose there any like him.

2 Corinthians 4:1-12

1 He showeth that he hath so labored in preaching the Gospel, 4 That such are even blinded of Satan, who do not perceive the brightness thereof, 7 that the same is carried in earthen vessels, 10 who are subject to many miseries: 16 and therefore he exhorteth them by his own example to be courageous, 17 and condemn this present life.

Therefore, [a]seeing that we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we [b]faint not:

But have cast from us the [c]cloaks of shame, and walk not in craftiness, neither handle we the word of God [d]deceitfully: but in declaration of the truth we approve ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

[e]If the Gospel be then hid, it is hid to them that are lost.

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds, that is, of the infidels, that the [f]light of the glorious Gospel of Christ, which is the [g]image of God, should not shine unto them.

[h]For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your servants for [i]Jesus’ sake.

For God (A)[j]that commanded the light to shine out of darkness, is he which hath shined in our hearts, to give the [k]light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

[l]But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, [m]that the excellency of that power might be of God, and not of us.

We are afflicted on every side, yet are we not in distress: we are in doubt, but yet we despair not.

We are persecuted, but not forsaken: cast down, but we perish not.

10 [n]Everywhere we bear about in our body the [o]dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus might also be made manifest in our bodies.

11 For we which [p]live, are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our [q]mortal flesh.

12 [r]So then death worketh in us, and life in you.
