58 “Cry aloud, spare not; lift up thy voice like a trumpet! And show My people their transgression and the house of Jacob their sins.

² Yet they seek Me daily and delight to know My ways, as a nation that did righteousness and forsook not the ordinance of their God. They ask of Me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.

³ ‘Why have we fasted,’ say they, ‘and Thou seest not? Why have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no note?’ Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labors.

⁴ Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness; ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.

⁵ Is it such a fast that I have chosen? A day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?

⁶ “Is not this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

⁷ Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house?—when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him, and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

⁸ Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily; and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy rearward.

⁹ Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and He shall say, ‘Here I am.’ If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger and speaking vanity,

¹¹ And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones; and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters fail not.

¹² And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places; thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations, and thou shalt be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Paths to dwell in.

112 Praise ye the Lord! Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in His commandments.

² His seed shall be mighty upon the earth; the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

³ Wealth and riches shall be in his house, and his righteousness endureth for ever.

⁴ Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness; he is gracious and full of compassion and righteous.

⁵ A good man showeth favor and lendeth; he will guide his affairs with discretion.

⁶ Surely he shall not be moved forever; the righteous shall be held in everlasting remembrance.

⁷ He shall not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

⁸ His heart is established; he shall not be afraid until he sees his desires upon his enemies.

⁹ He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honor.

¹⁰ The wicked shall see it and be grieved, he shall gnash with his teeth and melt away; the desire of the wicked shall perish.

2 And I, brethren, when I came to you declaring unto you the testimony of God, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom.

² For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

³ And I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling.

⁴ And my speech and my preaching were not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

⁵ that your faith should not stand on the wisdom of man, but on the power of God.

⁶ However, we speak wisdom among those who are perfect, yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, who are coming to nought.

⁷ But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the world for our glory —

⁸ wisdom which none of the princes of this world knew; for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory.

⁹ But as it is written: “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.”

¹⁰ But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit. For the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

¹¹ For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so no man knoweth the things of God, but the Spirit of God.

¹² Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God.

¹³ These things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

¹⁴ But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

¹⁵ But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged by no man.

¹³ “Ye are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot of men.

¹⁴ “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

¹⁵ Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.

¹⁷ “Think not that I am come to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.

¹⁸ For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle shall in any wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled.

¹⁹ Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

²⁰ For I say unto you that unless your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
