Psalm 15

15 1 This Psalm teacheth on what condition God did choose the Jews for his peculiar people; and wherefore he placed his Temple among them, which was to the intent that they by living uprightly and godly, might witness that they were his special and holy people.

A Psalm of David.

Lord, who shall dwell in thy Tabernacle? who shall rest in thine holy Mountain?

He that [a]walketh uprightly and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

He that slandereth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbor, nor receiveth a false report against his neighbor.

[b]In whose eyes a vile person is contemned, but he honoreth them that fear the Lord: he that sweareth to his own hindrance and changeth not.

He that [c]giveth not his money unto usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent: he that doeth these things, [d]shall never be moved.

Deuteronomy 24:17-25:4

17 Thou shalt not pervert the right of the [a]stranger, nor of the fatherless, nor take a widow’s raiment to pledge.

18 But remember that thou wast a servant in Egypt, and how the Lord thy God delivered thee thence. Therefore I command thee to do this thing.

19 (A)When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgotten a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fet it, but it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the works of thine hands.

20 When thou [b]beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again, but it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

21 When thou gatherest thy [c]vineyard, thou shalt not gather the grapes clean after thee, but they shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

22 And remember that thou wast [d]a servant in the land of Egypt: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

25 3 The beating of the offenders. 5 To raise up seed to the kinsmen. 11 In what case a woman’s hand must be cut off. 13 Of just weights and measures. 19 To destroy the Amalekites.

When there shall be strife between men, and they shall come unto judgment, [e]and sentence shall be given upon them, and the righteous shall be justified, and the wicked condemned,

Then if so be the wicked be worthy to be beaten, the judge shall cause him to lie down, [f]and to be beaten before his face, according to his trespass unto a certain number.

[g]Forty stripes shall he cause him to have, and not past, lest if he should exceed and beat him above that with many stripes, thy brother should appear despised in thy sight.

(B)Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn.

1 Timothy 5:17-24

17 [a]The Elders that rule well, let them be had in [b]double honor, [c]specially they which labor in the word and doctrine.

18 For the Scripture saith, (A)Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn: and, (B)The laborer is worthy of his wages.

19 [d]Against an Elder receive none accusation, but under two or three witnesses.

20 [e]Them that sin, rebuke openly, that the rest also may fear.

21 (C)[f]I charge thee before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect Angels, that thou observe these things, without preferring one to another, and do nothing partially.

22 [g]Lay hands [h]suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins; keep thyself pure.

23 [i]Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake, and thine often infirmities.

24 [j]Some men’s sins are open before hand, and go before unto judgment: but some men’s follow after.
