Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
27 The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked—even my enemies—and my foes came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though an army encamped against me, my heart shall not be afraid. Though war is raised against me, I will trust in this.
4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that I will require: That I may dwell in the House of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD and to visit His Temple.
5 For in the time of trouble, He shall hide me in His Tabernacle. In the secret place of His pavilion, He shall hide me and set me up upon a rock.
6 And now, He shall lift up my head above my enemies all around me. Therefore, I will offer sacrifices of joy in His Tabernacle. I will sing and praise the LORD.
27 And when they had come down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, “Bid the servant go before us,” (and he went) “But you stand still now, so that I may show you the Word of God.”
10 Then Samuel took a vial of oil and poured it upon his head and kissed him and said, “Has not the LORD anointed you to be Governor over His inheritance?
2 “After you have departed from me this day, you shall find two men by Rachel’s sepulcher, on the border of Benjamin, at Zelzah; and they will say to you, “The donkeys which you went to seek have been found. And lo, your father has left the care of the donkeys and worries about you, saying, ‘What shall I do for my son?’
3 “Then you shall go forth from there and shall come to the plain of Tabor. And you shall meet three men there going up to God, to Bethel, one carrying three goats and another carrying three loaves of bread and another carrying a bottle of wine.
4 “And they will ask you if all is well and will give you the two loaves of bread, which you shall receive from their hands.
5 “After that, you shall come to the hill of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is. And when you have come there to the city, you shall meet a company of Prophets coming down from the high place with a lute and a tambourine and a flute and a harp before them; and they shall prophesy.
6 “Then the Spirit of the LORD will come upon you. And you shall prophesy with them and shall be turned into another man.
7 “Therefore, when these signs shall come to you, do as the occasion shall require. For God is with you.
8 “And you shall go down before me to Gilgal. And I, also, will come down to you, to offer Burnt Offerings, and to sacrifice Sacrifices of peace. Wait for me for seven days, until I come to you and tell you what you shall do.”
2 Then, fourteen years after, I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took with me Titus also.
2 And I went up by revelation and declared to them that Gospel which I preach among the Gentiles (but privately to those who were the chief, lest by any means I should run - or had run - in vain).
3 But not even Titus - who was with me, though he were a Grecian - was compelled to be circumcised,
4 This was because of the false brethren who were craftily sent in; and crept in privately to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might bring us into bondage.
5 But we gave them no place, not even for an hour, that the truth of the Gospel might continue with you.
6 But by those who seemed to be great, I was not taught (whatever they were in time past, I am nothing the better; God accepts no man’s person) For those who are the chief have added nothing to me above what I had.
7 But on the contrary, when they saw that the Gospel was committed to me over the uncircumcision, as the Gospel over the circumcision was to Peter:
8 (For he who was mighty by Peter in the Apostleship over the circumcision, was also mighty by me toward the Gentiles.)
9 And when James and Cephas and John knew of the grace that was given to me - who are counted as pillars - they gave to me and to Barnabas the right hands of fellowship, that we should preach to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision,
10 warning only that we should remember the poor (which I was also diligent to do).
