Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
42 “Behold My Servant, whom I uphold, Mine Elect, in whom My soul delighteth: I have put My Spirit upon Him; He shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause His voice to be heard in the street.
3 A bruised reed shall He not break, and the smoking flax shall He not quench; He shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till He hath set judgment in the earth; and the isles shall wait for His law.”
5 Thus saith God the Lord—He that created the heavens and stretched them out, He that spread forth the earth and that which cometh out of it, He that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
6 “I, the Lord, have called Thee in righteousness, and will hold Thine hand, and will keep Thee, and give Thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
7 to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
8 I am the Lord; that is My name. And My glory will I not give to another, neither My praise to graven images.
9 “Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.”
29 Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty; give unto the Lord glory and strength.
2 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thundereth; the Lord is upon many waters.
4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf, Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
7 The voice of the Lord divideth the flames of fire.
8 The voice of the Lord shaketh the wilderness; the Lord shaketh the Wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to calve, and layeth bare the forests, and in His temple doth every one speak of His glory.
10 The Lord sitteth over the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth as King for ever.
11 The Lord will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.
34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said, “In truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons,
35 but in every nation he that feareth Him and worketh righteousness is accepted by Him.
36 The Word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all) —
37 that Word, I say, ye know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached:
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
39 And we are witnesses of all things which He did, both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem — He whom they hanged on a tree and slew.
40 Him God raised up the third day and showed Him openly,
41 not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead.
42 And He commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be the Judge of the quick and dead.
43 To Him all the prophets bear witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins.”
13 Then came Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan unto John to be baptized by him.
14 But John forbad Him, saying, “I have need to be baptized by Thee, and comest Thou to me?”
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, “Suffer it to be so now, for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John suffered Him.
16 And Jesus, when He had been baptized, went up straightway out of the water. And lo, the heavens were opened unto Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon Him.
17 And lo, a voice came from Heaven, saying, “This Is My Beloved Son, In Whom I Am Well Pleased.”
