Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
80 1 A lamentable prayer to God to help the miseries of his Church, 8 Desiring him to consider their first estate, when his favor shined toward them, to the intent that he might finish that work which he had begun.
To him that excelleth on Shoshannim Eduth, A Psalm committed to Asaph.
1 Hear, [a]O thou shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like sheep: show thy brightness, thou that sittest between the [b]Cherubims.
2 Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come to help us.
3 [c]Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine that we may be saved.
4 O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be [d]angry against the prayer of thy people?
5 Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink with great measure.
6 Thou hast made us a [e]strife unto our neighbors, and our enemies laugh at us among themselves.
7 [f]Turn us again, O God of hosts: cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
17 Let thine hand be upon the [a]man of thy right hand, and upon the son of man, whom thou madest strong for thine own self.
18 So will not we go back from thee, [b]revive thou us, and we shall call upon thy Name.
19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts: cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
23 (A)And what one people in the earth is like thy people, like Israel? whose God went and redeemed them to himself, that they might be his people, and that he might make him a name, and do for [a]you great things, and terrible for [b]thy land, O Lord, even for thy people, whom thou redeemedst to thee out of Egypt, from the [c]nations, and their gods?
24 For thou hast [d]ordained to thyself thy people Israel to be thy people forever: and thou Lord art become their God.
25 Now therefore, O Lord God, confirm forever the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and his house, and do as thou hast said.
26 And let thy Name be magnified forever by them that shall say, The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel, and let the [e]house of thy servant David be established before thee.
27 For thou, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed unto thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant [f]been bold to pray this prayer unto thee.
28 Therefore now, O Lord God, (for thou art God, and thy words be true, and thou hast told this goodness unto thy servant.)
29 Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue forever before thee: for thou, O Lord God, hast [g]spoken it: and let the house of thy servant be blessed forever with thy blessing.
31 He that is come from on high, is above all: he that is of the earth, is of the [a]earth, and [b]speaketh of the earth: he that is come from heaven, is above all.
32 And what he hath [c]seen and heard, that he testifieth: but [d]no man receiveth his testimony.
33 He that hath receiveth his testimony, hath sealed that (A)God is true.
34 For he whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for God giveth him not the Spirit by measure.
35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath (B)[e]given all things into his hand.
36 (C)He that believeth in the Son, hath everlasting life, and he that obeyeth not the Son, shall not [f]see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.
