Psalm 21

21 1 David in the person of the people praiseth God for the victory, attributing it to God, and not to the strength of man. Wherein the holy Ghost directeth the faithful to Christ, who is the perfection of this kingdom.

To him that excelleth. A Psalm of David.

The King shall [a]rejoice in thy strength, O Lord: yea how greatly shall he rejoice in thy salvation?

Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not denied him the request of his lips. Selah.

For thou [b]didst prevent him with liberal blessings, and didst set a crown of pure gold upon his head.

[c]He asked life of thee, and thou gavest him a long life forever and ever.

His glory is great in thy salvation: dignity and honor hast thou laid upon him.

For thou hast set him as [d]blessings forever: thou hast made him glad with the joy of thy countenance.

Because the king trusteth in the Lord, and in the mercy of the most high, he shall not slide.

[e]Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies, and thy right hand shall find out them that hate thee.

Thou shalt make them like a fiery oven in time of thine anger: the Lord shall destroy them in his [f]wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

10 Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from the children of men.

11 For they [g]intended evil against thee, and imagined mischief, but they shall not prevail.

12 Therefore shalt thou put them [h]apart, and the strings of thy bow shalt thou make ready against their faces.

13 [i]Be thou exalted, O Lord, in thy strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.

Isaiah 41:14-20

14 Fear not thou [a]worm, Jacob, and ye men of Israel: I will help thee, saith the Lord, and thy redeemer the holy One of Israel.

15 Behold, I will make thee a roller, and a new threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the [b]mountains, and bring them to powder, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, and shalt glory in the holy One of Israel.

17 When [c]the poor and the needy seek water, and there is none (their tongue faileth for thirst: I the Lord will hear them: I the God of Israel will not forsake them:)

18 I will open rivers in the tops of the hills, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness as a pool of water, and the waste [d]land as springs of water.

19 I will set in the wilderness the cedar, the Shittah, and the myrrhe tree, and the pine tree, and I will set in the wilderness the fir tree, the elm and the box tree together.

20 Therefore let them see and know, and let them consider and understand together that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the holy One of Israel [e]hath created it.

Romans 15:14-21

14 [a]And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that [b]ye also are full of goodness, and filled with all knowledge, and are able to admonish one another.

15 Nevertheless, brethren, I have somewhat boldly after a sort written unto you, as one that putteth you in remembrance, through the grace that is given me of God,

16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ toward the Gentiles, ministering the Gospel of God, that the [c]offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the holy Ghost.

17 [d]I have therefore whereof I may rejoice in Christ Jesus in those things which pertain to God.

18 For I dare not speak of anything, which [e]Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient in word and deed,

19 With the [f]power of signs and wonders, by the power of the spirit of God: so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have caused to abound the Gospel of Christ.

20 Yea, so I enforced myself to preach the Gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should have built on another man’s foundation.

21 But as it is written, (A)To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see him, and they that heard not, shall understand him.
