The Message About Jerusalem

Isaiah son of Amoz saw this message about Judah and Jerusalem.

In the last days
the mountain on which the Lord’s Temple stands
will become the most important of all mountains.
It will be raised above the hills.
And people from all nations will come streaming to it.
Many nations will come and say,
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord.
Let us go to the Temple of the God of Jacob.
Then God will teach us his ways.
And we will obey his teachings.”
The Lord’s teachings will go out from Jerusalem.
The Lord’s message will go out from Jerusalem.
Then the Lord will settle arguments among many nations.
He will make decisions for strong nations that are far away.
Then the nations will make their swords into plows.
They will make their spears into hooks for trimming trees.
Nations will no longer fight other nations.
They will not even train for war anymore.

Come, family of Jacob.
We should follow the way of the Lord.

Psalm 122

Happy People in Jerusalem

A song for going up to worship. Of David.

122 I was happy when they said to me,
“Let’s go to the Temple of the Lord.”
Jerusalem, we are standing
    at your gates.

Jerusalem is built as a city
    where friends can come together.
The people from the tribes go up there.
The tribes belong to the Lord.
It is the rule to praise
    the Lord at Jerusalem.
There the descendants of David
set their thrones to judge the people.

Pray for peace in Jerusalem:
“May those who love her be safe.
May there be peace within her walls
and safety within her strong towers.”
To help my relatives and friends,
I repeat, “Let Jerusalem have peace.”
For the sake of the Temple of the Lord our God,
    I wish good for her.

Romans 13:11-14

11 I say this because we live in an important time. Yes, it is now time for you to wake up from your sleep. Our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The “night”[a] is almost finished. The “day”[b] is almost here. So we should stop doing things that belong to darkness and take up the weapons used for fighting in the light. 13 Let us live in a right way, as in the daytime. We should not have wild parties or get drunk. There should be no sexual immorality or evil conduct, no fighting or jealousy. 14 But clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ. Forget about satisfying your sinful self.

Matthew 24:36-44

When Will Jesus Come Again?

36 “No one knows when that day or time will be. Even the Son[a] and the angels in heaven don’t know. Only the Father knows. 37 When the Son of Man comes, it will be the same as what happened during Noah’s time. 38 In those days before the flood, people were eating and drinking. They were marrying and giving their children to be married. They were still doing those things until the day Noah entered the boat. 39 They knew nothing about what was happening. But then the flood came, and all those people were destroyed. It will be the same when the Son of Man comes. 40 Two men will be working together in the field. One man will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding grain with a hand mill.[b] One woman will be taken and the other will be left.

42 “So always be ready. You don’t know the day your Lord will come. 43 Remember this: If the owner of the house knew what time a thief was coming, then the owner would be ready for him. The owner would watch and not let the thief enter his house. 44 So you also must be ready. The Son of Man will come at a time you don’t expect him.
