Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
24 1 Albeit the Lord God hath made, and governeth all the world, yet toward his chosen people, his gracious goodness doth most abundantly appear, in that among them he will have his dwelling place. Which thought it was appointed among the children of Abraham, yet only they do enter aright into this Sanctuary, which are the true worshippers of God, purged from the sinful filth of this world. 7 Finally he magnifieth God’s grace for the building of the Temple, to the end he might stir up all the faithful to the true service of God.
A Psalm of David.
1 The earth (A)is the Lord’s, and all that therein is; the world and they that dwell therein.
2 For he hath founded it upon the [a]seas; and established it upon the floods.
3 Who shall ascend into the mountain of the Lord? and who shall stand in his holy place?
4 Even he that hath innocent hands, and a pure heart; which hath not lifted up his mind unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive a blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 This is the [b]generation of them that seek him, of them that seek thy face, this is Jacob. Selah.
7 [c]Lift up your heads ye gates, and be ye lifted up ye everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall come in.
8 Who is this King of glory? the Lord, strong and mighty, even the Lord mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, ye gates, and lift up yourselves ye everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall come in.
10 Who is this King of glory? the Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.
8 Who are these [a]that fly like a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?
9 Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships [b]of Tarshish, as at the beginning, that they may bring thy sons from far, and their silver and their gold with them unto the Name of the Lord thy God, and to the Holy one of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.
10 And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their [c]Kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my mercy I had compassion on thee.
11 Therefore thy gates shall be open continually: neither day nor night shall they be shut, that men may bring unto thee the riches of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.
12 For the nation and the [d]kingdom, that will not serve thee, shall perish: and those nations shall be utterly destroyed.
13 The [e]glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree, the elm and the box tree together to beautify the place of my Sanctuary: for I will glorify the place of my [f]feet.
14 The sons also of them that afflicted thee, shall come and bow unto thee: and all they that despised thee, shall fall [g]down at the soles of thy feet: and they shall call thee; The city of the Lord, Zion of the Holy one of Israel.
15 Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went by thee, I will make thee an eternal glory, and a joy from generation to generation.
16 Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the [h]breasts of Kings: and thou shalt know, that I the Lord am thy Savior, and thy Redeemer, the mighty one of Jacob.

1 Forasmuch as [a]many have [b]taken in hand to set forth the story of those things, whereof we are fully persuaded,
2 [c]As they have delivered them unto us, which from the beginning saw them themselves, and were ministers of the word,
3 It seemed good also to me ([d]most noble Theophilus) as soon as I had searched out perfectly all things [e]from the beginning, to write unto thee thereof from point to point,
4 That thou mightest [f]acknowledge the certainty of those things whereof thou hast been instructed.
