Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
46 1 A song of triumph or thanksgiving for the deliverance of Jerusalem, after Sennacherib with his army was driven away, or some other like sudden and marvelous deliverance by the mighty hand of God. 8 Whereby the Prophet commending this great benefit, doth exhort the faithful to give themselves wholly into the hand of God, doubting nothing but that under his protection they shall be safe against all the assaults of their enemies, because this is his delight to assuage the rage of the wicked, when they are most busy against the just.
To him that excelleth upon [a]Alamoth, a song committed to the sons of Korah.
1 God is our [b]hope and strength, and help in [c]troubles, ready to be found.
2 Therefore will not we [d]fear, though the earth be moved, and though the mountains fall into the midst of the sea,
3 Though the waters thereof [e]rage and be troubled, and the mountains shake at the surges of the same. Selah.
4 Yet there is a [f]River, whose stream shall make glad the City of God: even the Sanctuary of the Tabernacles of the most High.
5 God is in the midst of it: therefore shall it not be moved: God shall help it [g]very early.
6 When the nations raged, and the kingdoms were moved, God [h]thundered, and the earth melted.
7 The Lord of hosts is [i]with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
8 Come and behold the works of the Lord, [j]what desolations he hath made in the earth.
9 He maketh wars to cease unto the ends of the world, he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear, and burneth the chariots with fire.
10 Be [k]still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the heathen, and I will be exalted in the earth.
11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
18 Therefore thus saith the Lord against Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah king of Judah, They shall not [a]lament him, saying, Ah, my brother, or ah sister: neither shall they mourn for him, saying, Ah, lord, or ah, his glory.
19 He shall be buried, as an ass [b]is buried, even drawn and cast forth without the gates of Jerusalem.
20 ¶ Go up to [c]Lebanon, and cry: shout in [d]Bashan, and cry by the passages: for all thy lovers are destroyed.
21 I spake unto thee when thou wast in prosperity: but thou saidest, I will not hear, this hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou wouldest not obey my voice.
22 The wind shall feed all thy pastors, [e]and thy lovers shall go into captivity: and then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded of all thy wickedness.
23 Thou that dwellest in Lebanon, and makest thy nest in the [f]cedars, how beautiful shalt thou be when sorrows come upon thee, as the sorrow of a woman in travail?
24 As I live, saith the Lord, though [g]Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, were the signet of my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence.
25 And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them, whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babel, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
26 And I will cause them to carry thee away, and thy mother that bare thee into another country, where ye were not born, and there shall ye die.
27 But to the land, whereunto they desire to return, they shall not return thither.
28 Is not this man Coniah as a despised and broken idol? or as a vessel, wherein is no pleasure? wherefore are they carried away, he and his seed, and cast out into a land that they know not?
29 O [h]earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the Lord.
30 Thus saith the Lord, Write this [i]man destitute of children, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for there shall be no man of his seed that shall prosper and sit upon the throne of David, or bear rule anymore in Judah.
15 ¶ (A)[a]They brought unto him also babes that he should touch them. [b]And when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
16 [c]But Jesus [d]called them unto him, and said, Suffer the babes to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
17 [e]Verily I say unto you, whosoever receiveth not the kingdom of God as a babe, he shall not enter therein.
