46 1 A song of triumph or thanksgiving for the deliverance of Jerusalem, after Sennacherib with his army was driven away, or some other like sudden and marvelous deliverance by the mighty hand of God. 8 Whereby the Prophet commending this great benefit, doth exhort the faithful to give themselves wholly into the hand of God, doubting nothing but that under his protection they shall be safe against all the assaults of their enemies, because this is his delight to assuage the rage of the wicked, when they are most busy against the just.
To him that excelleth upon [a]Alamoth, a song committed to the sons of Korah.
1 God is our [b]hope and strength, and help in [c]troubles, ready to be found.
2 Therefore will not we [d]fear, though the earth be moved, and though the mountains fall into the midst of the sea,
3 Though the waters thereof [e]rage and be troubled, and the mountains shake at the surges of the same. Selah.
4 Yet there is a [f]River, whose stream shall make glad the City of God: even the Sanctuary of the Tabernacles of the most High.
5 God is in the midst of it: therefore shall it not be moved: God shall help it [g]very early.
6 When the nations raged, and the kingdoms were moved, God [h]thundered, and the earth melted.
7 The Lord of hosts is [i]with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
8 Come and behold the works of the Lord, [j]what desolations he hath made in the earth.
9 He maketh wars to cease unto the ends of the world, he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear, and burneth the chariots with fire.
10 Be [k]still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the heathen, and I will be exalted in the earth.
11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
12 ¶ And the messenger that went to call Michaiah, spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the Prophets declare good to the king with one [a]accord: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.
13 And Michaiah said, As the Lord liveth, whatsoever my God saith, that will I speak.
14 ¶ So he came to the king, and the King said unto him, Michaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I leave off? And he said, [b]Go ye up, and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand.
15 And the King said to him, How oft shall I charge thee, that thou tell me nothing but the truth in the Name of the Lord?
16 Then he said, I saw all Israel scattered in the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the Lord said, [c]These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.
17 And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that he would not prophesy good unto me, but evil?
18 Again he said, Therefore hear ye the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sit upon his throne, and all the [d]host of heaven standing at his right hand, and at his left.
19 And the Lord said, Who shall [e]persuade Ahab King of Israel, that he may go up, and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one spake and said thus, and another said that.
20 Then there came forth a spirit and stood before the Lord, and said, I will persuade him. And the Lord said unto him, Wherein?
21 And he said, I will go out, and be a false spirit in the mouth of all his Prophets. And [f]he said, Thou shalt persuade, and shalt also prevail: go forth and do so.
22 Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a [g]false spirit in the mouth of these thy Prophets, and the Lord hath determined evil against thee.
23 It was then necessary, that the [a]similitudes of heavenly things should be purified with such things: but the heavenly things themselves are purified with better sacrifices than are these.
24 [b]For Christ is not entered into the holy places that are made with hands, which are similitudes of the true Sanctuary: but is entered into very heaven, to appear now in the sight of God for us,
25 [c]Not that he should offer himself often, as the high Priest entered into the Holy place every year with others’ blood,
26 [d](For then must he have often suffered since the foundation of the world) but now in the [e]end of the world hath he been made manifest, once to put away [f]sin by the sacrifice of himself.
27 And as it is appointed unto men that they shall [g]once die, and after that cometh the judgment:
28 So (A)Christ was once offered to take away the sins of [h]many, [i]and unto them that look for him, shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
