Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
98 Sing to the LORD a new song; for He has done marvelous things! His right hand and His holy arm have gotten Him the victory.
2 The LORD declared His salvation. He has revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations.
3 He has remembered His mercy and His truth toward the House of Israel. All the ends of the Earth have seen the salvation of our God.
4 Sing loud to the LORD, all the Earth! Cry out and rejoice; and sing praises!
5 Sing praise to the LORD upon the harp, upon the harp with a singing voice.
6 With shofars and sound of trumpets sing loud before the LORD the King.
7 Let the sea roar and all that therein is, the world and those who dwell therein.
8 Let the floods clap their hands! Let the mountains rejoice together
9 before the LORD! For He has come to judge the Earth. With righteousness shall He judge the world, and the people with equity.
10 And as I looked, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the Cherubim, there appeared something like a sapphire stone upon them, having the likeness of a throne.
2 And He spoke to the man clothed in linen, and said: “Go in between the wheels, under the Cherub, and fill your hands with coals of fire from between the Cherubim and scatter them over the city.” And he went as I watched.
3 Now as the Cherubim stood upon the right side of the house, the man went in, and the cloud filled the inner court.
4 Then the Glory of the LORD went up from the Cherub, and stood over the door of the house. And the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the LORD’s Glory.
5 And the sound of the Cherubim’ wings was heard as far as the outer court, like the Voice of the Almighty God, when He speaks.
6 And when He had Commanded the man clothed with linen, saying: “Take fire from between the wheels, from between the Cherubim,” then He went in and stood beside the wheel.
7 And one Cherub stretched forth his hand from between the Cherubim, to the fire that was between the Cherubim, and took from it and put it into the hands of him who was clothed in linen, who took it and went out.
8 And there appeared in the Cherubim, the likeness of a man’s hand under their wings.
9 And when I looked up, behold, four wheels were beside the Cherubim, one wheel by one Cherub and another wheel by another Cherub, and the appearance of the wheels was as the color of a chrysolite stone.
10 And their appearance (there were four of the same) was as if one wheel had been in another wheel.
11 When they went forth, they went upon their four sides. And they did not turn as they went but went only in their original direction. They did not turn as they went.
12 And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes, all around, in the same four wheels.
13 And they cried to these wheels within my hearing, “O wheel!”
14 And every beast had four faces. The first face was the face of a Cherub. And the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.
15 And the Cherubim were lifted up. This is the beast that I saw at the river Chebar.
16 And when the Cherubim moved, the wheels went beside them. And when the Cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the Earth, the same wheels also did not turn from beside them.
17 When the Cherubim stood still, the wheels stood still. And when one was lifted up, the other also lifted themselves up. For the spirit of the beast was in them.
18 Then the Glory of the LORD departed from above the door of the house, and stood upon the Cherubim.
19 And the Cherubim lifted up their wings and mounted up from the Earth in my sight. When they went out, the wheels were also beside them. And everyone stood at the entry of the gate of the LORD’s House, at the east side, and the Glory of the God of Israel was upon them on high.
20 And when He was asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come, He answered them, and said, “The Kingdom of God does not come with observation.
21 “Nor shall they say, ‘Lo, here!’ or ‘Lo, there!’ For behold, the Kingdom of God is within you.”
22 And He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you shall not see it.
23 “Then they shall say to you, ‘Behold here!’or ‘Behold there!’ Do not go there or follow them.
24 “For as the lightning that flashes out of one part of Heaven, shines into another part of Heaven, so shall the Son of Man be on His day.
25 “But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
26 “And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the days of the Son of Man.
27 “They ate, they drank, they married wives and gave in marriage, until the day that Noah went into the Ark. And the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 “Also, as it was in the days of Lot. They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built.
29 “But on the day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from Heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 “So shall it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
31 “On that day, the one who is upon the house (and his stuff in the house), let him not come down to take it out. And likewise, the one who is in the field, let him not turn back to that which he left behind.
32 “Remember Lot’s wife.
33 “Whoever will seek to save his soul, shall lose it. And whoever shall lose it, shall preserve it.
34 “I tell you, on that night there shall be two in one bed. The one shall be received, and the other shall be left.
35 “Two women shall be grinding together. The one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
36 “Two shall be in the field. One shall be received, and another shall be left.”
37 And they answered, and said to Him, “Where, Lord?” And He said to them, “Wherever the body is, there also shall the birds of prey be gathered together.”
