²³ “Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were written even in a book,

²⁴ “engraved with an iron pen in lead, or in stone, forever!

²⁵ “For I am sure that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand the last on the Earth.

²⁶ “And even after my skin is destroyed, I shall still see God in my flesh,

²⁷ “Whom I myself shall see and my eyes shall behold, and no other. My core is consumed within me.

17 Hear what is right, O LORD. Consider my cry. Hear my prayer of unfeigned lips.

² Let my sentence come forth from Your presence. And let Your eyes behold equity.

³ You have tested and visited my heart in the night. You have tried me and found nothing. For I have purposed that my mouth should not offend.

⁴ Concerning the works of men, by the words of Your lips I kept myself from the paths of the cruel man.

⁵ Keep my steps in Your paths, so that my feet do not slide.

⁶ I have called upon You. Surely You will hear me, O God. Incline Your ear to me and hear my words.

⁷ Show Your marvelous mercies, You Who are the Savior of those who trust in You from such as resist Your right hand.

⁸ Keep me as the apple of Your eye. Hide me under the shadow of Your wings

⁹ from the wicked who oppress me, from my enemies who surround me for my soul.

2 Now we urge you, brothers, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (and by our assembling to Him),

² to not waver suddenly in your mind or be troubled by spirit or word or letter which seems to come from us, as though the day of Christ were at hand.

³ Let no one deceive you in any way. For that Day shall not come unless an apostasy comes first and the man of sin is revealed - the Son of Perdition -

⁴ who is an adversary and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he sits as God, in the Temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

⁵ Do you not remember that when I was still with you, I told you these things?

¹³ But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers (beloved of the Lord) because God has chosen you for salvation from the beginning, through sanctification of the Spirit and the faith of truth;

¹⁴ to which He called you by our Gospel to obtain the Glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁵ Therefore, brothers, stand fast and keep the instructions which you have been taught, either by word or by our letter.

¹⁶ Now may the same Jesus Christ our Lord, and our God, even the Father, Who has loved us and has given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

¹⁷ comfort your hearts and establish you in every word and good work.

²⁷ Then some of the Sadducees came to Him (who deny that there is any resurrection). And they asked Him,

²⁸ “Master, Moses wrote to us: ‘If anyone’s brother dies having a wife (and he dies without children), that his brother should take his wife and raise up seed to his brother.’

²⁹ “Now there were seven brothers. And the first took a wife, and he died without children.

³⁰ “And the second took the wife, and he died childless.

³¹ “Then the third took her. And so likewise did all seven die and leave no children.

³² “And last of all, the woman also died.

³³ “Therefore, at the resurrection, whose wife shall she be? For seven had her as wife.”

³⁴ Then Jesus answered, and said to them, “The sons of this world marry wives, and are married.

³⁵ “But those who shall be counted worthy to enjoy that World, (and the resurrection from the dead) neither marry wives nor are married.

³⁶ “For they can die no more, because they are equal to the angels and are the sons of God (since they are sons of the resurrection).

³⁷ “And even Moses showed that the dead shall rise again when, beside the bush, he said, ‘The Lord is the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’

³⁸ “For He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. For all live for Him.”
