Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
32 Blessed is he whose wickedness is forgiven; whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
3 When I held my tongue (my bones being consumed when I roared all day,
4 for Your hand is heavy upon me day and night) and my moisture turned into the drought of Summer (Selah),
5 I acknowledged my sin to You and did not hide my iniquity. I thought, “I will confess to the LORD my wickedness against myself.” And You forgave the punishment of my sin. Selah.
6 Therefore, everyone who is godly shall make his prayer to You in a time when You may be found. Surely, in the flood of great waters they shall not come near him.
7 You are my Secret Place. You preserve me from trouble. You surround me with joyful deliverance. Selah.
21 “Therefore, please acquaint yourself with Him and make peace. Thereby you shall have prosperity.
22 “Please receive the Law of His Mouth and lay up His Words in your heart.
23 “If you return to the Almighty, you shall be built up. You shall put iniquity far from your tabernacle.
24 “You shall lay up gold for dust, and the gold of Ophir, as the flints of the rivers.
25 “Yea, the Almighty shall be your defense, and you shall have plenty of silver.
26 “And you shall then delight in the Almighty, and lift up your face to God.
27 “You shall make your prayer to Him, and He shall hear you. And you shall render your vows.
28 “You shall also decree a thing, and He shall establish it to you. And the light shall shine upon your ways.
29 “When others are cast down, then shall you say, ‘I am lifted up,’ and God shall save the humble person.
30 “The innocent shall deliver the island, and it shall be preserved by the pureness of your hands.”
23 But Job answered, and said,
2 “Though my talk be in bitterness today, and my plague greater than my groaning,
3 “I wish that I knew how to find Him. I would enter into His place.
4 “I would plead the cause before Him and fill my mouth with arguments.
5 “I would know the Words He would answer me and would understand what He would say to me.
6 “Would He plead against me with His great power? No, He would surely acknowledge me.
7 “There the righteous might reason with Him. So I would be delivered forever from my Judge.
8 “Behold, if I go to the East, He is not there. If to the West, yet I cannot perceive Him.
9 “If to the North where He works, yet I cannot see Him. He will hide Himself in the South, and I cannot behold Him.
10 “But He knows my way, and tries me. I shall come forth like gold.
11 “My foot has followed His steps. I have kept His way, and have not declined.
12 “Nor have I departed from the Commandment of His Lips. I have treasured the Words of His Mouth more than my appointed food.
13 “Yet, He is One and who can turn Him? Yea, He does what His Mind desires.
14 “For He will perform that which is decreed for me. And many such things are with Him.
15 “Therefore, I am troubled at His presence. And in considering it, I am afraid of Him.
16 “For God has softened my heart. And the Almighty has terrified me.
17 “For I am not cut off in darkness. But He has hidden the darkness from my face.”
1 Simon Peter, a servant and an Apostle of Jesus Christ, to you who have obtained equal precious faith with us, by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you, through the acknowledging of God, and of Jesus Christ our Lord.
3 His divine power has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness, through the acknowledging of Him Who has called us to Glory and virtue;
4 by which most great and precious promises are given to us, so that by them you could be partakers of the divine nature (in that you flee the corruption which is in the world through lust).
5 Therefore, give all diligence to this. Moreover, join virtue with your faith; and with virtue, knowledge;
6 and with knowledge, temperance; and with temperance, patience; and with patience, godliness;
7 and with godliness, brotherly kindness; and with brotherly kindness, love.
8 For if these things are among you, and abound, they will cause you to be neither idle nor unfruitful in the acknowledging of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 For the one who does not have these things is blind and short-sighted and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Therefore, brothers, give all the more diligence to making your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you shall never fall.
11 For by this means shall entry into the everlasting Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be abundantly provided to you.
