Naaman’s Disease Healed
5 Naaman,(A) commander of the army for the king of Aram, was a man important to his master and highly regarded(B) because through him, the Lord had given victory to Aram. The man was a valiant warrior, but he had a skin disease.(C)
2 Aram had gone on raids(D) and brought back from the land of Israel a young girl who served Naaman’s wife. 3 She said to her mistress, “If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria, he would cure him of his skin disease.”
7 When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes(A) and asked, “Am I God,(B) killing and giving life, that this man expects me to cure a man of his skin disease? Recognize[a] that he is only picking a fight with me.”(C)
8 When Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, he sent a message to the king: “Why have you torn your clothes? Have him come to me, and he will know there is a prophet in Israel.”(D) 9 So Naaman came with his horses and chariots and stood at the door of Elisha’s house.
10 Then Elisha sent him a messenger,(E) who said, “Go wash(F) seven times(G) in the Jordan and your skin will be restored and you will be clean.”
11 But Naaman got angry and left, saying, “I was telling myself: He will surely come out, stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand(H) over the place and cure the skin disease. 12 Aren’t Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel?(I) Couldn’t I wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and left in a rage.(J)
13 But his servants approached and said to him, “My father,(K) if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more should you do it when he only tells you, ‘Wash and be clean’?” 14 So Naaman went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, according to the command of the man of God. Then his skin was restored and became like the skin of a small boy, and he was clean.(L)
15 Then Naaman and his whole company went back to the man of God, stood before him, and declared, “I know there’s no God in the whole world except in Israel.(M) Therefore, please accept a gift(N) from your servant.”

Praise for the Lord’s Works
1 Hallelujah![a]
I will praise the Lord with all my heart
in the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.(A)
2 The Lord’s works are great,
studied by all who delight in them.(B)
3 All that he does is splendid and majestic;(C)
his righteousness endures forever.(D)
4 He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered.(E)
The Lord is gracious and compassionate.(F)
5 He has provided food for those who fear him;(G)
he remembers his covenant forever.(H)
6 He has shown his people the power of his works
by giving them the inheritance of the nations.(I)
7 The works of his hands are truth and justice;
all his instructions are trustworthy.(J)
8 They are established forever and ever,
enacted in truth and in uprightness.(K)
9 He has sent redemption to his people.(L)
He has ordained his covenant forever.
His name is holy and awe-inspiring.(M)
8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead(A) and descended from David, according to my gospel, 9 for which I suffer to the point of being bound like a criminal. But the word of God is not bound. 10 This is why I endure(B) all things for the elect:(C) so that they also may obtain salvation, which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.(D) 11 This saying is trustworthy:(E)
For if we died with him,(F)
we will also live with him;
12 if we endure, we will also reign(G) with him;
if we deny him, he will also deny us;
13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful,
for he cannot deny himself.
An Approved Worker
14 Remind them of these things, and charge them before God[a] not to fight about words.(H) This is useless and leads to the ruin of those who listen. 15 Be diligent to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.(I)
Ten Men Healed
11 While traveling to Jerusalem,(A) he passed between[a] Samaria and Galilee.(B) 12 As he entered a village, ten men with leprosy[b](C) met him. They stood at a distance 13 and raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master,(D) have mercy on us!”
14 When he saw them, he told them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.”(E) And while they were going, they were cleansed.
15 But one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned and, with a loud voice, gave glory to God.(F) 16 He fell facedown(G) at his feet, thanking him. And he was a Samaritan.(H)
17 Then Jesus said, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? 18 Didn’t any return to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And he told him, “Get up and go on your way. Your faith has saved you.”[c](I)
