Psalm 3

David driven forth of his kingdom, was greatly tormented in mind for his sins against God:  4 And therefore calleth upon God, and waxeth bold through his promises, against the great railings and terrors of his enemies, yea against death itself, which he saw present before his eyes. 7 Finally, he rejoiceth for the good success that God gave him and all the Church.

A Psalm of David, when he fled from his son Absalom.

Lord, how are mine adversaries [a]increased? how many rise against me?

Many say to my soul, There is no help for him in God. [b]Selah.

But thou Lord art a buckler for me, my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

I did call unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy mountain. Selah.

I laid me down and slept, and rose up again: for the Lord sustained me.

I will not be afraid for [c]ten thousand of the people, that should beset me round about.

O Lord, arise: help me, my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheekbone: thou hast broken the teeth of the wicked.

[d]Salvation belongeth unto the Lord, and thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

Habakkuk 2:5-11

Yea, indeed the proud man is as [a]he that transgresseth by wine: therefore shall he not endure, because he hath enlarged his desire as the hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people.

Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Ho, he that increaseth that which is not his? [b]how long? and he that ladeth himself with thick clay?

Shall [c]they not rise up suddenly, that shall bite thee? and awake, that shall stir thee? and thou shalt be their prey?

Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil thee, because of men’s blood, and for the wrong done in the land, in the city, and unto all that dwell therein.

Ho, he that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, to escape from the power of evil.

10 Thou [d]hast consulted shame to thine own house, by destroying many people, and hast sinned against thine own soul.

11 For the [e]stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.

1 John 5:1-5

1 He showeth that brotherly love and faith are things inseparable: 10 And that there is no faith towards God, but by believing in Christ: 14 Hence proceedeth calling upon God with assurance: 16 and also that our prayers be available for our brethren.

Whosoever [a]believeth that Jesus is that [b]Christ, is born of God: and everyone that loveth him, which begat, loveth [c]him also which is begotten of him.

[d]In this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his [e]commandments.

[f]For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: [g]and his (A)commandments are not [h]burdenous.

[i]For all that is born of God, overcometh this world: [j]and this is that victory that [k]hath overcome this world even our [l]faith.

(B)[m]Who is it that overcometh this world, but he which believeth that Jesus is that Son of God?

1 John 5:13-21

13 [a]These things have I written unto you, that believe in the name of that Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe in the Name of that Son of God.

14 [b]And this is that assurance that we have in him, (A)that if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us.

15 And if we know that he heareth us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions, that we have desired of him.

16 [c]If any man see his brother sin a sin that is not unto death, let him [d]ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. (B)There is a sin unto death, I say not that thou shouldest pray for it.

17 [e]All unrighteousness is sin, but there is a sin not unto death.

18 [f]We know that whosoever is born of God, sinneth not: but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

19 [g]We know that we are of God, and this whole world lieth in wickedness.

20 But we know that that Son of God is (C)come, and hath given us a mind to know him, which is true, and we are in him that is true, that is, in that his Son Jesus Christ, the same is that very [h]God, and that eternal life.

21 [i]Little children, keep yourselves from idols, Amen.
