Version
Psalm 119:65-72

Teth

65 You have dealt well with your servant,
O Yahweh, according to your word.
66 Teach me good discernment and knowledge,
for I believe your commands.
67 Before I was afflicted, I was going astray,
but now I heed your word.
68 You are good and do good;
teach me your statutes.
69 The arrogant smear me with lies;[a]
I keep your precepts with my whole heart.
70 Their heart is insensitive like fat;[b]
As for me, I take delight in your law.
71 It is good for me that I was afflicted,
so that I might learn your statutes.
72 The law of your mouth is better to me
than thousands of gold and silver coins.

Isaiah 57:14-21

Peace for the Contrite

14 And one shall say, “Build up, build up! Clear the way!
    Remove the obstacles[a] from the way of my people!”

15 For thus says the high and lofty one who resides forever, and whose name is holy:

“I reside in a high and holy place,
    and with the contrite[b] and humble of spirit,
to revive the spirit of the humble,
    and to revive the heart of the contrite.[c]
16 For I will not attack forever,
    and I will not be angry forever,
for the spirit will grow faint before me,
    and the breaths that I myself I have made.
17 I was angry because of his sin of gain, and I struck him;
    I hid and I was angry, but[d] he walked apostate, in the ways[e] of his heart.
18 I have seen his ways, but[f] I will heal him;
    and I will lead him and give him and his mourners comfort as a recompense,
19     creating fruit of lips.
Peace, peace to the far and near,” says Yahweh, “and I will heal him.
20 But[g] the wicked are like the churning sea,
    that is not able to keep quiet,
    and its waters toss up mire and mud.
21 There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.”

Luke 14:15-24

15 Now when[a] one of those reclining at the table with him heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is everyone who[b] will eat bread in the kingdom of God!” 16 But he said to him, “A certain man was giving a large banquet and invited many. 17 And he sent his slave at the hour of the banquet to say to those who have been invited, ‘Come, because now it is ready!’ 18 And they all alike[c] began to excuse themselves. The first said to him, ‘I have purchased a field, and I must[d] go out to look at it. I ask you, consider me excused.’ 19 And another said, ‘I have purchased five yoke of oxen, and I am going to examine them. I ask you, consider me excused.’ 20 And another said, ‘I have married a wife, and for this reason I am not able to come.’ 21 And the slave came and[e] reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house became angry and[f] said to his slave, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the city and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and lame!’ 22 And the slave said, ‘Sir, what you ordered has been done, and there is still room.’ 23 And the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges and press them[g] to come in, so that my house will be filled! 24 For I say to you that none of those persons who were invited will taste my banquet!’”
