⁶⁵ O LORD, You have dealt graciously with Your servant, according to Your Word.

⁶⁶ Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I have believed Your Commandments.

⁶⁷ Before I was afflicted, I went astray; but now I keep Your Word.

⁶⁸ You are good and gracious; teach me Your Statutes.

⁶⁹ The proud have imagined a lie against me, but I will keep Your Precepts with my whole heart.

⁷⁰ Their heart is fat as grease; but my delight is in Your Law.

⁷¹ It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your Statutes.

⁷² The Law of Your Mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver.

12 And when Rehoboam had established the kingdom and made it strong, he forsook the Law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.

² Therefore, in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak, the king of Egypt, came up against Jerusalem (because they had transgressed against the LORD)

³ with twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen. And the people who came with him from Egypt—the Lubim, Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians—were without number.

⁴ And he took the strong cities of Judah and came to Jerusalem.

⁵ Then Shemaiah the Prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, who were gathered together in Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, “Thus says the LORD: ‘You have forsaken Me. Therefore, I have also left you in the hands of Shishak.’”

⁶ Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves, and said, “The LORD is just.”

⁷ And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the Word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, “They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them. But I will shortly send them deliverance. And My wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

⁸ “Nevertheless, they shall be his servants, so they shall know My service from the service of the kingdoms of the Earth.”

⁹ Then Shishak, king of Egypt, came up against Jerusalem and took the treasures of the House of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house. He took it all. And he carried away the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

¹⁰ In their place, King Rehoboam made shields of bronze and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard who waited at the door of the king’s house.

¹¹ And when the king entered into the House of the LORD, the guard came and bore them and brought them back to the guard chamber.

¹² And because he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, so that He would not completely destroy. And things also prospered in Judah.

⁷ So that we may boldly say, “The Lord is my helper. I will not fear what man can do to me.”

⁸ Remember your leaders who have declared to you the Word of God. Follow their faith, considering what has been the outcome of their conduct. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

⁹ Do not be carried about with strange and diverse doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart is established with grace, and not with food which has not profited those who walk in them.

¹⁰ We have an altar from which those who serve in the Tabernacle have no authority to eat.

¹¹ For the bodies of those beasts whose blood is brought into the Holy Place by the High Priest for sin, are burnt outside the camp.

¹² Therefore, even Jesus - so that He might sanctify the people with His own blood - suffered outside the gate.

¹³ Therefore, let us go forth to Him out of the camp, bearing His reproach.

¹⁴ For here have we no continuing city. But we seek one to come.

¹⁵ Therefore, by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God (that is, the fruit of the lips which confess His Name).

¹⁶ Do not forget to do good and to share. For God is pleased with such sacrifices.

¹⁷ Obey your leaders and submit. For they watch over your souls, as those who must give an account. So that they may do so with joy and not with grief. For that is unprofitable for you.

¹⁸ Pray for us. For we are confident that we have a good conscience in all things, desiring to live honestly.

¹⁹ And I desire that you do so somewhat more earnestly, that I may be restored to you more quickly.

²⁰ May the God of Peace, Who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus - the Great Shepherd of the sheep - through the blood of the everlasting Covenant,

²¹ make you perfect in all good works; to do His will, working in you that which is pleasant in His sight through Jesus Christ, to Whom be praise forever and ever. Amen.
