Psalm 25:11-20

11 For thy [a]Name’s sake, O Lord, be merciful unto mine iniquity, for it is great.

12 What [b]man is he that feareth the Lord? him will he teach the way that he shall [c]choose.

13 His soul shall dwell at [d]ease, and his seed shall inherit the land.

14 The [e]secret of the Lord is revealed to them that fear him: and his Covenant to give them understanding.

15 Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord: for he will bring my feet out of the net.

16 Turn thy face unto me, and have mercy upon me: for I am desolate and poor.

17 The sorrows of mine heart [f]are enlarged: draw me out of my troubles.

18 Look upon mine affliction and my travail, and forgive all my sins.

19 Behold mine [g]enemies, for they are many, and they hate me with cruel hatred.

20 Keep my soul and deliver me: let me not be confounded: for I trust in thee.

Proverbs 19:1-17

19 Better (A)is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that abuseth his lips, and is a fool.

For without knowledge the mind is not good, and he that hasteth with his feet, sinneth.

The foolishness of a man perverteth his way, and his heart fretteth against the Lord.

Riches gather many friends: but the poor is separated from his neighbor.

(B)A false witness shall not be unpunished: and he that speaketh lies, shall not escape.

Many reverence the face of the prince, and every man is friend to him that giveth gifts.

All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more will his friends depart far from him? though he be instant [a]with words, yet they will not.

He that possesseth understanding, [b]loveth his own soul, and keepeth wisdom to find goodness.

A false witness shall not be unpunished: and he that speaketh lies, shall perish.

10 [c]Pleasure is not comely for a fool, much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

11 The discretion of man deferreth his anger: and his glory is [d]to pass by an offence.

12 (C)The king’s wrath is like the roaring of a lion: but his favor is like the dew upon the grass.

13 (D)A foolish son is the calamity of his father, (E)and the contentions of a wife are like a continual [e]dropping.

14 House and riches are the inheritance of the fathers: but a (F)prudent wife cometh of the Lord.

15 Slothfulness causeth to fall asleep, and a deceitful person shall be affamished.

16 He that keepeth the commandment, keepeth his own soul: but he that despiseth his ways, shall die.

17 He that hath mercy upon the poor, lendeth unto the Lord: and the Lord will recompense him that which he hath given.

1 John 3:11-17

11 [a]For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that (A)we should love one another,

12 [b]Not as (B)[c]Cain which was of that wicked one, and slew his brother: [d]and wherefore slew he him? because his own works were evil, and his brother’s good.

13 Marvel not my brethren, though this world hate you.

14 [e]We know that we are [f]translated from death unto life, because we love the brethren: (C)he that loveth not his brother, abideth in death.

15 [g]Whosoever hateth his brother, is a manslayer: and ye know that no manslayer hath eternal life abiding in him.

16 (D)[h]Hereby have we perceived love, that he laid down his life for us: therefore we ought also to lay down our lives for the brethren.

17 (E)[i]And whosoever hath this [j]world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and [k]shutteth up his compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
