Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
8 O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your Name in all the world; Who has set Your Glory above the heavens!
2 Out of the mouth of children and infants You have ordained strength, because of Your enemies; that You might cease the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I behold Your heavens, the works of Your fingers; the moon and the stars which You have ordained,
4 what is man that You are mindful of him; and the son of man that You seek him?
5 For You have made him a little lower than God and crowned him with glory and worship.
6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands. You have put all things under his feet,
7 all sheep and oxen; indeed, and the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the air and the fish of the sea; that which passes through the paths of the seas.
9 O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your Name in all the world! To him who excels upon Muth Labben: A Psalm of David.
4 Hear, O children, the instruction of a father. And give ear to learn understanding.
2 For I do give you a good doctrine. Therefore, do not forsake my law.
3 For I was my father’s son, tender and dear in the sight of my mother,
4 when he taught me, and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words. Keep my commandments, and you shall live.
5 “Get wisdom. Get understanding. Neither forget nor decline from the words of my mouth.
6 “Do not forsake her, and she shall keep you. Love her and she shall preserve you.
7 “Wisdom is the beginning. Therefore, get wisdom. And above all your possessions, get understanding.
8 “Exalt her, and she shall exalt you. She shall bring you to honor, if you embrace her.
9 “She shall give a comely ornament to your head. Indeed, she shall give you a crown of glory.
41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover.
42 And when He was twelve years old, and they had come up to Jerusalem (after the custom of the feast),
43 and had finished the days and were returning, the child Jesus remained in Jerusalem. And neither Joseph nor his mother, Mary, knew.
44 But they, supposing that He had been in their company, went a day’s journey and sought Him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances.
45 And when they did not find Him, they turned back to Jerusalem and sought Him.
46 And it happened that after three days they found Him in the Temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, hearing them and asking them questions.
47 And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.
48 So when they saw Him, they were amazed. And His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You dealt with us like this? Behold, Your father and I have sought You with very heavy hearts.”
49 Then He said to them, “How is it that you sought Me? Did you not know that I must go about My Father’s business?”
50 But they did not understand the Word that He spoke to them.
51 Then He went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them. And His mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom, and stature, and in favor with God and man.
