Version
Jeremiah 1:4-10

Now the word of Yahweh came to me saying,

“Before I (A)formed you in the [a]innermost parts I knew you,
And (B)before you came out from the womb I set you apart;
I have (C)given you as a prophet to the nations.”
Then (D)I said, “Alas, Lord Yahweh!
Behold, I do not know how to speak
Because (E)I am a youth.”
But Yahweh said to me,
“Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’
(F)Because everywhere I send you, you shall go,
And (G)all that I command you, you shall speak.
(H)Do not be afraid of them,
For (I)I am with you to deliver you,” declares Yahweh.

Then Yahweh sent forth His hand and (J)touched my mouth, and Yahweh said to me,

“Behold, I have (K)put My words in your mouth.
10 See, (L)I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms,
(M)To uproot and to tear down,
To cause to perish and to pull down,
(N)To build and to plant.”

Psalm 71:1-6

O God, Do Not Forsake Me

71 (A)In You, O Yahweh, I have taken refuge;
Let me never be ashamed.
(B)In Your righteousness deliver me and protect me;
(C)Incline Your ear to me and save me.
(D)Be to me a rock of (E)habitation to which I may continually come;
You have given the (F)command to save me,
For You are (G)my [a]rock and my fortress.
(H)Protect me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked,
Out of the [b]grasp of the unrighteous and ruthless man,
For You are my (I)hope;
O Lord Yahweh, You are my (J)trust from my youth.
[c]By You I have been (K)sustained from my birth;
You are He who (L)took me from my mother’s womb;
My (M)praise is continually [d]of You.

1 Corinthians 13

The Excellence of Love

13 If I speak with the (A)tongues of men and of (B)angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a (C)clanging cymbal. And if I have the gift of (D)prophecy, and know all (E)mysteries and all (F)knowledge; and if I have (G)all faith, so as to (H)remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I (I)give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I (J)surrender my body [a]to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

Love (K)is patient, love is kind, (L)is not jealous, does not brag, is not (M)puffed up; it does not act unbecomingly, (N)does not seek its own, is not provoked, (O)does not take into account a wrong suffered; (P)it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but (Q)rejoices with the truth; [b](R)it bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails, but if there are gifts of [c](S)prophecy, they will be done away; if there are (T)tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. For we (U)know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the [d]perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child. When I [e]became a man, I did away with childish things. 12 For now we (V)see in a mirror [f]dimly, but then (W)face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also (X)have been fully known. 13 But now abide faith, hope, love—these three; but the [g]greatest of these is (Y)love.

Luke 4:21-30

21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your [a]hearing.” 22 And all were [b]speaking well of Him and marveling at the [c]gracious words which were coming forth from His lips, and they were saying, “(A)Is this not Joseph’s son?” 23 And He said to them, “No doubt you will quote this proverb to Me, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we heard took place (B)at Capernaum, do also here in (C)your hometown.’” 24 And He said, “Truly I say to you, (D)no prophet is welcome in his hometown. 25 But I say to you in truth, there were many widows in Israel (E)in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up for three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land, 26 and yet Elijah was sent to none of them, but (F)only to [d]Zarephath, in the land of (G)Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. 27 And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed, but (H)only Naaman the Syrian.” 28 And all the people in the synagogue were filled with rage as they heard these things, 29 and they stood up and (I)drove Him out of the city, and led Him to the edge of the hill on which their city had been built, in order to throw Him down the cliff. 30 But (J)passing through their midst, He went on His way.
