Yahweh’s Joy in Restoring Israel

14 Sing for joy, O daughter of Zion!
(A)Make a loud shout, O Israel!
Be glad and exult with all your heart,
O daughter of Jerusalem!
15 Yahweh has taken away (B)His judgments against you;
He has cleared away your enemies.
The King of Israel, Yahweh, is (C)in your midst;
You will (D)fear evil no more.
16 (E)In that day it will be said to Jerusalem:
(F)Do not fear, O Zion;
(G)Do not let your hands fall limp.
17 Yahweh your God is (H)in your midst,
A (I)mighty one who will save.
He will (J)be joyful over you with gladness;
He will [a]be quiet in His love;
He will rejoice over you with joyful singing.
18 I will assemble those who (K)grieve about the appointed feasts—
They were from you, O Zion;
The reproach of exile is a burden on [b]them.
19 Behold, I am going to deal at that time
With all those who (L)afflict you,
And I will save the (M)lame
And gather the banished,
And I will turn them—in their (N)shame—into (O)praise and a name
In all the earth.
20 At that time I will (P)bring you in,
Even at the time when I gather you together;
Indeed, I will give you to be a (Q)name and praise
Among all the peoples of the earth,
When I (R)restore your fortunes before your eyes,”
Says Yahweh.

Isaiah 12:2-6

Behold, (A)God is my salvation,
I will (B)trust and not dread;
For [a](C)Yah—Yahweh Himself—is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation.”
Therefore you will joyously (D)draw water
From the (E)springs of salvation.
And in that day you will (F)say,
(G)Give thanks to Yahweh, call on His name.
(H)Make known His deeds among the peoples;
[b]Make them remember that His name is exalted.”
(I)Praise Yahweh in song, for He has done [c]majestic things;
Let this be known throughout the earth.
(J)Cry aloud and shout for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
For (K)great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.

Philippians 4:4-7

(A)Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your considerate spirit be known to all men. (B)The Lord is [a]near. (C)Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by (D)prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And (E)the peace of God, which surpasses all [b]comprehension, will (F)guard your hearts and your (G)minds in (H)Christ Jesus.

Luke 3:7-18

So he was saying to the crowds who were going out to be baptized by him, “(A)You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bear fruits in keeping with repentance, and (B)do not begin to say [a]to yourselves, ‘(C)We have Abraham for our father,’ for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham. But indeed the axe is already laid at the root of the trees; therefore, (D)every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”

10 And the crowds were questioning him, saying, “(E)Then what should we do?” 11 And he would answer and say to them, “The man who has two [b]tunics is to (F)share with him who has none; and he who has food is to do likewise.” 12 And (G)tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, “Teacher, what should we do?” 13 And he said to them, “[c]Collect no more than what you have been ordered to.” 14 And soldiers were also questioning him, saying, “What should we also do?” And he said to them, “Do not take money from anyone by force, or (H)extort anyone, and (I)be content with your wages.”

15 Now while the people were in a state of expectation and all were reasoning in their hearts about John, (J)as to whether he was the [d]Christ, 16 (K)John answered, saying to them all, “As for me, I baptize you with water, but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the strap of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 17 His (L)winnowing fork is in His hand to thoroughly clear His threshing floor and to gather the wheat into His barn, but He will burn up the chaff with (M)unquenchable fire.”

18 So with many other exhortations he proclaimed the gospel to the people.
