Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
4 John, to the seven churches in Asia: Grace to you and peace from the One Who is and Who was and Who is coming, and from the seven Spirits[a] that are before His throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ— the Faithful Witness, the Firstborn of the dead, and the Ruler of the kings of the earth.
To the One loving us and having released[b] us from our sins by His blood— 6 and He made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father— to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever, amen. 7 Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him— even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth[c] will beat-their-breasts over Him. Yes! Amen!
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega”, says the Lord God, “the One Who is and Who was and Who is coming, the Almighty”.
Jesus Says To Pilate, My Kingdom Is Not of This World
33 So Pilate entered again into the Praetorium, and called Jesus. And he said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” 34 Jesus answered, “Are you saying this from yourself, or did others tell you about Me?” 35 Pilate answered, “I am not a Jew, am I? Your nation[a] and the chief priests handed You over to me. What did You do?” 36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would be fighting in order that I might not be handed-over to the Jews. But as-it-is[b], My kingdom is not from here”. 37 Therefore Pilate said to Him, “So-then You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You are saying[c] that[d] I am a king. I have been born for this. And I have come into the world for this: that I might testify to the truth. Everyone being of the truth hears[e] My voice”.
