God’s People Brought Home
7 For this is what the Lord says:
Sing with joy for Jacob;
shout for the chief of the nations!
Proclaim, praise, and say,
“Lord, save Your people,(A)
the remnant of Israel!”
8 Watch! I am going to bring them from the northern land.
I will gather them from remote regions of the earth(B)—
the blind and the lame will be with them,
along with those who are pregnant and those about to give birth.
They will return here as a great assembly!(C)
9 They will come weeping,
but I will bring them back with consolation.[a](D)
I will lead them to wadis filled with water
by a smooth way where they will not stumble,(E)
for I am Israel’s Father,
and Ephraim is My firstborn.
Psalm 126
Zion’s Restoration
A song of ascents.
1 When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,[a]
we were like those who dream.(A)
2 Our mouths were filled with laughter then,(B)
and our tongues with shouts of joy.(C)
Then they said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”(D)
3 The Lord had done great things for us;
we were joyful.(E)
23 Now many have become Levitical priests, since they are prevented by death from remaining in office. 24 But because He remains forever, He holds His priesthood permanently. 25 Therefore, He is always able to save[a] those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede(A) for them.
26 For this is the kind of high priest we need: holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.(B) 27 He doesn’t need to offer sacrifices every day, as high priests do—first for their own sins, then for those of the people. He did this once for all when He offered Himself.(C) 28 For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak, but the promise of the oath, which came after the law, appoints a Son,(D) who has been perfected(E) forever.
A Blind Man Healed
46 They(A) came to Jericho.(B) And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a large crowd, Bartimaeus (the son of Timaeus), a blind(C) beggar,(D) was sitting by the road.(E) 47 When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene,(F) he began to cry out, “Son of David,(G) Jesus, have mercy(H) on me!”(I) 48 Many people told him to keep quiet, but he was crying out all the more, “Have mercy on me,(J) Son of David!”
49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”
So they called the blind man and said to him, “Have courage!(K) Get up; He’s calling for you.” 50 He threw off his coat,(L) jumped up, and came to Jesus.
51 Then Jesus answered him, “What do you want(M) Me to do for you?”
“Rabbouni,”[a](N) the blind man told Him, “I want to see!”
52 “Go your way,” Jesus told him. “Your faith has healed you.”(O) Immediately he could see and began to follow Him on the road.
