Psalm 8

O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your Name in all the world; Who has set Your Glory above the heavens!

Out of the mouth of children and infants You have ordained strength, because of Your enemies; that You might cease the enemy and the avenger.

When I behold Your heavens, the works of Your fingers; the moon and the stars which You have ordained,

what is man that You are mindful of him; and the son of man that You seek him?

For You have made him a little lower than God and crowned him with glory and worship.

You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands. You have put all things under his feet,

all sheep and oxen; indeed, and the beasts of the field,

the birds of the air and the fish of the sea; that which passes through the paths of the seas.

O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your Name in all the world! To him who excels upon Muth Labben: A Psalm of David.

Genesis 21:22-34

22 And at the same time, Abimelech and Phichol, his chief captain, spoke to Abraham, saying, “God is with you in all that you do.

23 “Now, therefore, swear to me here by God that you will not hurt me, nor my children, nor my children’s children. You shall deal with me, and with the country where you have been a stranger, according to the kindness that I have showed you.

24 Then Abraham said, “I will swear.”

25 And Abraham rebuked Abimelech for a well of water which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.

26 And Abimelech said, “I do not know who has done this thing. Also, you didn’t tell me, nor had I heard of it, until today.

27 Then Abraham took sheep and cattle and gave them to Abimelech. And the two made a covenant.

28 And Abraham set apart seven lambs of the flock.

29 Then Abimelech said to Abraham, “What do these seven lambs mean which you have set apart?

30 And he answered, “Because you shall receive these seven lambs from my hand as a witness that I have dug this well.”

31 Therefore the place is called Beersheba, because there they both swore.

32 Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba. Afterward, Abimelech and Phichol, the chief captain, rose up and turned again to the land of the Philistines.

33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and there called on the Name of the LORD, the Everlasting God.

34 And Abraham was a stranger in the Philistines’ land a long season.

Romans 8:1-11

Now, then, there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus; who do not walk after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For the Law of the Spirit of life, Who is in Christ Jesus, has freed me from the Law of sin and of death.

For what the Law could not do (since it was weak because of the flesh) God did; having sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh,

that the righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled in us; who do not walk after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For those who are after the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

For the wisdom of the flesh is death. But the wisdom of the Spirit is life and peace.

Because the wisdom of the flesh is hostility toward God. For it is not subject to the Law of God, nor indeed can it be.

So, then, those who are in the flesh, cannot please God.

Now, you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit. Because the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, the same is not His.

10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin. But the Spirit is life, for righteousness’ sake.

11 But if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He Who raised up Christ from the dead shall also give life to your mortal bodies by His Spirit, Who dwells in you.
