Psalm 8

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the earth, who hast set Thy glory above the heavens!

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast Thou ordained strength because of Thine enemies, that Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars which Thou hast ordained,

what is man that Thou art mindful of him, and the son of man that Thou dost visit him?

For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor.

Thou hast made him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet,

all sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field,

the fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the earth!

Genesis 21:22-34

22 And it came to pass at that time that Abimelech and Phichol, the chief captain of his host, spoke unto Abraham, saying, “God is with thee in all that thou doest.

23 Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son’s son; but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.”

24 And Abraham said, “I will swear.”

25 And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.

26 And Abimelech said, “I know not who hath done this thing; neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it until today.”

27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them unto Abimelech, and both of them made a covenant.

28 And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.

29 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, “What mean these seven ewe lambs, which thou hast set by themselves?”

30 And he said, “These seven ewe lambs shalt thou take from my hand, that they may be a witness unto me that I have dug this well.”

31 Therefore he called that place Beersheba [that is, The well of the oath], because there they swore, both of them.

32 Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba. Then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.

33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.

34 And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines’ land many days.

Romans 8:1-11

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh,

that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

For those who are according to the flesh mind the things of the flesh; but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace,

because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so it be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His.

10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11 But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.
