Psalm 8

To the Overcomer upon Gittith, A Psalm of David.

¶ O LORD our Lord, how great is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy praise above the heavens.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou might still the enemy and the avenger.

¶ When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou dost visit him?

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels and hast crowned him with glory and beauty.

Thou hast made him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

all sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, and whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

O LORD our Lord, how great is thy name in all the earth!

Genesis 21:22-34

22 ¶ And it came to pass at that time that Abimelech and Phichol, the prince of his host, spoke unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest.

23 Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son’s son; but according to the mercy that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me and to the land in which thou hast sojourned.

24 And Abraham said, I will swear.

25 And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water which Abimelech’s slaves had violently taken away.

26 And Abimelech said, I know not who has done this thing; neither didst thou tell me, neither have I heard of it, but today.

27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant.

28 And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.

29 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves?

30 And he said, For these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand that they may be a witness unto me that I have dug this well.

31 Therefore he called that place Beersheba; because there they swore, both of them.

32 Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba; then Abimelech rose up and Phichol, the prince of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.

33 ¶ And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba and called there on the name of the LORD, the eternal God.

34 And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines’ land many days.

Romans 8:1-11

¶ So that now, there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ, Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ, Jesus, has made me free from the law of sin and death.

For that which was impossible to the law, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh

that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

For those that are according to the flesh know the things that are of the flesh; but those that are according to the Spirit, the things that are of the Spirit.

For the prudence of the flesh is death, but the prudence of the Spirit, life and peace,

because the prudence of the flesh is enmity against God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, neither indeed can it.

So then, those that are carnal cannot please God.

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, because the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, that person is not of him.

10 ¶ But if Christ is in you, the body is truly dead because of sin, but the Spirit is alive because of righteousness.

11 And if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he that raised up the Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you.
