Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Lead Me in Your Righteousness
For the choir director. For [a]the flutes. A Psalm of David.
5 (A)Give ear to my words, O Yahweh,
Consider my (B)meditation.
2 Give heed to (C)the sound of my cry for help, (D)my King and my God,
For to You I pray.
3 O Yahweh, in the morning, [b]You will hear my voice;
In the (E)morning I will order my [c]prayer to You and eagerly (F)watch.
4 For You are not a God (G)who delights in wickedness;
(H)Evil does not sojourn with You.
5 The (I)boastful shall not (J)stand before Your eyes;
You (K)hate all workers of iniquity.
6 You (L)destroy those who speak falsehood;
Yahweh abhors (M)the man of bloodshed and deceit.
7 But as for me, (N)in the abundance of Your lovingkindness I will enter Your house,
[d]At Your holy temple I will (O)worship in (P)fear of You.
8 O Yahweh, (Q)lead me (R)in Your righteousness (S)because of [e]my foes;
Make Your way [f]straight before me.
9 There is (T)nothing [g]reliable in their mouth;
Their (U)inward part is destruction itself.
Their (V)throat is an open grave;
They [h]flatter with their tongue.
10 Hold them guilty, O God;
(W)By their own devices let them fall!
In the abundance of their transgressions (X)thrust them out,
For they are (Y)rebellious against You.
18 Then the word of Yahweh of hosts came to me, saying, 19 “Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘The fast of the (A)fourth, the fast of the (B)fifth, the fast of the (C)seventh, and the fast of the (D)tenth months will become (E)joy, gladness, and [a]merry appointed feasts for the house of Judah; so (F)love truth and peace.’
20 “Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘It will yet be that (G)peoples will come, even the inhabitants of many cities. 21 The inhabitants of one will go to another, saying, “Let us go at once to [b](H)entreat the favor of Yahweh and to seek Yahweh of hosts; [c]I will also go.” 22 So (I)many peoples and mighty nations will come to seek Yahweh of hosts in Jerusalem and to [d](J)entreat the favor of Yahweh.’ 23 Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘In those days ten men from every tongue of the nations will [e](K)take hold of the [f]garment of a Jew, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.”’”
18 Children, (A)it is the last hour; and just as you heard that (B)antichrist is coming, (C)even now many antichrists have appeared. From this we know that it is the last hour. 19 (D)They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they were of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, (E)so that [a]it would be manifested that they all are not of us. 20 [b]But you have an (F)anointing from (G)the Holy One, and (H)you all know. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but (I)because you do know it, and [c]because no lie is (J)of the truth. 22 Who is the liar but (K)the one who denies that Jesus is the [d]Christ? This is (L)the [e]antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. 23 (M)Everyone who denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 As for you, let that which you heard (N)from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also (O)will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 (P)And this is the promise which He Himself [f]made to us: eternal life.
