¹⁶⁹ ¶ Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD; give me understanding according to thy word.

¹⁷⁰ Let my supplication come before thee; deliver me according to thy spoken word.

¹⁷¹ ¶ My lips shall overflow with praise when thou hast taught me thy statutes.

¹⁷² ¶ My tongue shall speak thy words; for all thy commandments are righteousness.

¹⁷³ ¶ Let thine hand help me, for I have chosen thy precepts.

¹⁷⁴ I have longed for thy saving health, O LORD, and thy law is my delight.

¹⁷⁵ ¶ Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee, and let thy judgments help me.

¹⁷⁶ ¶ I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy slave; for I have not forgotten thy commandments.

¹² Therefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord has performed his whole work upon Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will come upon the fruit of the pride of the heart of the king of Assyria, and upon the glory of his high looks.

¹³ For he said, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have been prudent: and I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures, and I have cast down as valiant ones those who were seated:

¹⁴ And my hand has found as a nest the riches of the peoples: and as one gathers eggs that are left, I have taken control over all the earth; and there was no one that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

¹⁵ Shall the axe boast itself against him that hews with it? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that moves it? as if the rod should rise up against those that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift itself up. Is it not wood?

¹⁶ Therefore shall the Lord, the LORD of the hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.

¹⁷ And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;

¹⁸ and shall consume the glory of his forest and of his fruitful field, from the soul unto the flesh; and they shall come to be as a standard-bearer in defeat.

¹⁹ And the trees that shall remain in his forest shall be in number such that a child may count them.

²⁰ ¶ And it shall come to pass in that day that those who shall be left of Israel and those who shall be left of the house of Jacob shall no more again stay upon him that smote them, but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

²⁵ Then one of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill?

²⁶ But, behold, he speaks boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Have the rulers truly understood that this is indeed the Christ?

²⁷ But we know where this man is from; but when the Christ comes, no one shall know where he is from.

²⁸ Then Jesus cried out in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye know me, and ye know from where I come, but I have not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.

²⁹ But I know him, for I am from him, and he has sent me.

³⁰ Then they sought to take him, but no one laid hands on him because his hour was not yet come.

³¹ And many of the people believed in him and said, When the Christ comes, will he do more signs than these which this man has done?

³² The Pharisees heard the people that murmured such things concerning him, and the princes of the priests and the Pharisees sent officers to take him.

³³ Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while I shall be with you, and then I shall go unto him that sent me.

³⁴ Ye shall seek me and shall not find me, and where I shall be, ye shall not be able to come.

³⁵ Then the Jews said among themselves, Where will he go that we shall not find him? Will he go unto the dispersed among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?

³⁶ What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me and shall not find me, and where I shall be ye shall not be able to come?
