Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
10 “I said at the cessation of my days, ‘I shall go to the gates of the grave. I am deprived of the residue of my years.’
11 “I said, ‘I shall not see the LORD, the LORD in the land of the living. I shall not see man anymore among the inhabitants of the world.
12 ‘My habitation has departed, and is removed from me, like a shepherd’s tent. I have rolled up my life, like a weaver. He will cut me off from the loom. From day to night You will make an end of me.
13 ‘I reckoned until the morning, but He broke all my bones like a lion. From day to night will You make an end of me.
14 ‘Like a crane, a swallow, so I chattered. I mourned as a dove. My eyes were lifted up on high. O LORD, it has oppressed me. Comfort me.
15 ‘What shall I say? For He has said it to me, and He has done it. I shall walk weakly in the bitterness of my soul all my years.
16 ‘O LORD, by these things You sustain life. And in these things is the life of my spirit, by which You cause me to dream and give me life.
17 ‘Behold, for peace I had bitter grief. But it was Your pleasure to deliver my soul from the pit of corruption. For You have cast all my sins behind Your back.
18 ‘For the grave cannot confess You. Death cannot praise You. Those who go down into the pit cannot hope for Your truth.
19 ‘But the living, the living, he shall confess You, as I do this day. The father shall declare Your truth to the children.
20 ‘The LORD saves me. Therefore, we will sing my song all the days of our life in the House of the LORD.’”
9 Then the Philistines came up and camped in Judah and were spread out in Lehi.
10 And the men of Judah said, “Why have you come up to us? And they answered, “We have come up to bind Samson, to do to him as he has done to us.”
11 Then, three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock, Etam, and said to Samson, “Do you not know that the Philistines are rulers over us? Why, then, have you done this to us?” And he answered them, “As they did to me, so I have done to them.”
12 Again they said to him, “We have come to bind you and to deliver you into the hand of the Philistines.” And Samson said to them, “Swear to me that you will not fall upon me yourselves.”
13 And they answered him, saying, “No. We will bind you and deliver you into their hand, but we will not kill you.” And they bound him with two new ropes and brought him from the rock.
14 When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted at him. And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him; and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire. For the bands loosed from his hands.
15 And he found a new jawbone of a donkey and put forth his hands and caught it and killed a thousand men with it.
16 Then Samson said, “With the jaw of a donkey, are heaps upon heaps! With the jaw of a donkey, I have killed a thousand men!”
17 And when he had stopped speaking, he cast away the jawbone from his hand, and called that place, Ramath Lehi.
18 And he was very thirsty, and called on the LORD, and said, “You have given this great deliverance into the hand of your servant. And now shall I die for thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?”
19 Then God broke the cheek tooth that was in the jaw; and water came out from there. And when he had drunk, his spirit returned, and he was revived. Therefore, its name is called, En Hakkore, which is in Lehi to this day.
20 And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines for twenty years.
14 And when they had come to the multitude, a certain man came to Him and fell down at His feet,
15 and said, “Master, have pity on my son. For he is lunatic and suffers greatly. For he often falls into the fire, and often into the water.
16 “And I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not heal him.”
17 Then Jesus answered, and said, “O faithless and crooked generation. How long now shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.”
18 And Jesus rebuked the demon. And he went out of him. And the child was healed at that hour.
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, “Why could not we cast it out?”
20 And Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For truly I say to you, if you have faith as much as is a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’, and it shall move. And nothing shall be impossible to you.
21 “Nevertheless, this kind only comes out by prayer and fasting.”
