Psalm 106:1-6

Psalm 106

Israel’s Unfaithfulness to God

Hallelujah!
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
His faithful love endures forever.(A)
Who can declare the Lord’s mighty acts
or proclaim all the praise due Him?(B)
How happy are those who uphold justice,
who practice righteousness at all times.(C)

Remember me, Lord,
when You show favor to Your people.(D)
Come to me with Your salvation
so that I may enjoy the prosperity
of Your chosen ones,
rejoice in the joy of Your nation,
and boast about Your heritage.(E)

Both we and our fathers have sinned;
we have done wrong and have acted wickedly.(F)

Psalm 106:13-23

13 They soon forgot His works
and would not wait for His counsel.(A)
14 They were seized with craving in the wilderness
and tested God in the desert.(B)
15 He gave them what they asked for,
but sent a wasting disease among them.(C)

16 In the camp they were envious of Moses
and of Aaron, the Lord’s holy one.(D)
17 The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan;
it covered the assembly of Abiram.(E)
18 Fire blazed throughout their assembly;
flames consumed the wicked.(F)

19 At Horeb they made a calf
and worshiped the cast metal image.(G)
20 They exchanged their glory[a][b]
for the image of a grass-eating ox.(H)
21 They forgot God their Savior,
who did great things in Egypt,(I)
22 wonderful works in the land of Ham,[c]
awe-inspiring acts at the Red Sea.(J)
23 So He said He would have destroyed them—
if Moses His chosen one
had not stood before Him in the breach
to turn His wrath away from destroying them.(K)

Psalm 106:47-48

47 Save us, Yahweh our God,
and gather us from the nations,
so that we may give thanks to Your holy name
and rejoice in Your praise.(A)

48 May Yahweh, the God of Israel, be praised
from everlasting to everlasting.(B)
Let all the people say, “Amen!”
Hallelujah!(C)

Deuteronomy 4:9-14

“Only be on your guard and diligently watch yourselves, so that you don’t forget the things your eyes have seen and so that they don’t slip from your mind as long as you live. Teach them to your children and your grandchildren.(A) 10 The day you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, the Lord said to me, ‘Assemble the people before Me, and I will let them hear My words, so that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth and may instruct their children.’ 11 You came near and stood at the base of the mountain, a mountain blazing with fire into the heavens and enveloped in a dense, black cloud. 12 Then the Lord spoke to you from the fire. You kept hearing the sound of the words, but didn’t see a form; there was only a voice.(B) 13 He declared His covenant(C) to you. He commanded you to follow the Ten Commandments, which He wrote on two stone tablets. 14 At that time the Lord commanded me to teach you statutes and ordinances for you to follow in the land you are about to cross into and possess.

1 Timothy 4:6-16

A Good Servant of Jesus Christ

If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished by the words of the faith(A) and the good teaching that you have followed.(B) But have nothing to do with irreverent and silly myths.(C) Rather, train yourself in godliness,(D) for

the training of the body has a limited benefit,(E)
but godliness is beneficial in every way,
since it holds promise for the present life
and also for the life to come.(F)

This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance.(G) 10 In fact, we labor and strive[a] for this, because we have put our hope in the living God,(H) who is the Savior(I) of everyone,(J) especially of those who believe.

Instructions for Ministry

11 Command and teach these things. 12 Let no one despise your youth; instead, you should be an example to the believers in speech,(K) in conduct,(L) in love,[b](M) in faith, in purity.(N) 13 Until I come,(O) give your attention to public reading, exhortation, and teaching. 14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you; it was given to you through prophecy,(P) with the laying on of hands(Q) by the council of elders. 15 Practice these things; be committed to them, so that your progress may be evident to all. 16 Pay close attention to your life and your teaching; persevere in these things, for by doing this you will save(R) both yourself and your hearers.(S)
