Psalm 34:1-8

Those Who Trust in God Are Happy

34 I will honor the Lord at all times. His praise will always be in my mouth. My soul will be proud to tell about the Lord. Let those who suffer hear it and be filled with joy. Give great honor to the Lord with me. Let us praise His name together.

I looked for the Lord, and He answered me. And He took away all my fears. They looked to Him and their faces shined with joy. Their faces will never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him. And He saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord stays close around those who fear Him, and He takes them out of trouble.

O taste and see that the Lord is good. How happy is the man who trusts in Him!

1 Samuel 28:20-25

20 At once Saul fell to the ground with his whole body. He was very afraid because of Samuel’s words. And there was no strength in him, for he had eaten no food all day and all night. 21 The woman came to Saul and saw that he was filled with fear. She said to him, “See, your woman servant has obeyed you. I have put my life in danger and have listened to what you said to me. 22 So now I beg you, let me give you a piece of bread. Eat, so you may have strength when you go on your way.” 23 But he said, “I will not eat.” But his servants together with the woman begged him, and he listened to them. He got up from the ground and sat on the bed. 24 The woman had a fat calf in the house and was quick to kill it. She took flour, made it into dough, and made bread without yeast. 25 She brought it to Saul and his servants, and they ate. Then they got up and went away that night.

Romans 15:1-6

15 We who have strong faith should help those who are weak. We should not live to please ourselves. Each of us should live to please his neighbor. This will help him grow in faith. Even Christ did not please Himself. The Holy Writings say, “The sharp words spoken against you fell on Me.” (A) Everything that was written in the Holy Writings long ago was written to teach us. By not giving up, God’s Word gives us strength and hope. Now the God Who helps you not to give up and gives you strength will help you think so you can please each other as Christ Jesus did. Then all of you together can thank the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
