New Life Version (NLV)
Version
Psalm 119:81-88

81 My soul becomes weak with desire for Your saving power, but I have put my hope in Your Word. 82 My eyes become weak with desire for Your Word. I say, “When will You comfort me?” 83 I have become like a wineskin in the smoke, but I do not forget Your Law. 84 How long must Your servant wait? When will You punish those who make it hard for me? 85 The proud have dug deep holes for me. They do not obey Your Law. 86 All of Your Word is faithful. Help me! For they have made it hard for me with a lie. 87 They almost destroyed me on the earth, but I did not turn away from Your Law. 88 Give me life again by Your loving-kindness, and I will keep the Word of Your mouth.

Jeremiah 16:14-21

God Will Bring Israel Back

14 “So the days are coming,” says the Lord, “when it will no longer be said, ‘As the Lord lives, Who brought up the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt.’ 15 But it will be said, ‘As the Lord lives, Who brought the sons of Israel from the land of the north and from all the countries where He had sent them.’ For I will return them to their own land which I gave to their fathers.

The Punishment That Is Coming

16 “See, I am going to send for many fishermen,” says the Lord, “and they will fish for them. After this I will send for many men who hunt. And they will hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the holes in the rocks. 17 For I see all their ways. They are not hidden from My face, and their sin is not hidden from My eyes. 18 And I will pay them back twice as much for their wrong-doing and their sin, because they have made My land unclean. They have filled My land with the bodies of their hated false gods and with sinful things offered to them.”

Jeremiah’s Prayer

19 O Lord, my strength and my strong-place, my safe place in the day of trouble, nations will come to You from the ends of the earth and say, “Our fathers have received nothing but lies, only things that have no worth and do not help them.” 20 Can man make his own gods? What man makes is not gods!

21 “So I am going to make them know. This time I will make them know My power and My strength. And they will know that My name is the Lord.”

John 7:1-9

The Brothers of Jesus Argue with Him

Jesus did not stay in the country of Judea because the Jews were trying to kill Him. After this He went from place to place in the country of Galilee. A religious gathering of the Jews was near. This gathering was called the Supper of Tents. The brothers of Jesus said to Him, “Leave here and go to the country of Judea. Let Your followers there see the things You do. If a person wants others to know what he is doing, he does things to be seen. Since You are doing such things, show Yourself to the world.” Not even His brothers were putting their trust in Him.

Jesus said to them, “My time has not yet come. But any time is good for you. The world cannot hate you but it hates Me. I speak against the world because of its sinful works. You go to the religious gathering. I am not going yet. My time has not yet come.”

Jesus told His brothers this and then stayed in Galilee.
