2 And He said unto me, “Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.”

² And the Spirit entered into me when He spoke unto me, and set me upon my feet, so that I heard Him who spoke unto me.

³ And He said unto me, “Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against Me. They and their fathers have transgressed against Me, even unto this very day;

⁴ for they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, ‘Thus saith the Lord God.’

⁵ And they, whether they will hear or whether they will forbear (for they are a rebellious house), yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.

123 Unto Thee I lift up mine eyes, O Thou that dwellest in the heavens.

² Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress, so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God until He has mercy upon us.

³ Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us, for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

⁴ Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

² I knew a man in Christ more than fourteen years ago (whether in the body I cannot tell, or whether out of the body I cannot tell — God knoweth). Such a one was caught up to the third Heaven.

³ And I knew such a man (whether in the body or out of the body I cannot tell — God knoweth),

⁴ and how he was caught up into Paradise, and heard unspeakable words which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

⁵ Of such a one will I glory, yet of myself I will not glory, except in mine infirmities.

⁶ For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool, for I will say the truth. But now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or than he heareth of me.

⁷ And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

⁸ For this thing, I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

⁹ And He said unto me, “My grace is sufficent for thee, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore will I glory rather in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in privations, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then am I strong.

6 And He went out from thence and came into His own country, and His disciples followed Him.

² And when the Sabbath day had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “From whence hath this man these things? And what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James and Joses, and of Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they were offended at Him.

⁴ But Jesus said unto them, “A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.”

⁵ And He could do no mighty works there, except that He laid His hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

⁶ And He marveled because of their unbelief. And He went round about the villages teaching.

⁷ And He called unto Him the twelve, and began to send them forth two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits,

⁸ and commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only — no wallet, no bread, and no money in their purse,

⁹ but be shod with sandals, and not put on two coats.

¹⁰ And He said unto them, “In whatever place ye enter into a house, there abide until ye depart from that place.

¹¹ And whosoever shall not receive you nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the Day of Judgment than for that city.”

¹² And they went out and preached that men should repent.

¹³ And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.
