Thanksgiving for Yahweh’s Compassion

Of David.[a]

103 Bless Yahweh, O my soul,
and all within me, bless his holy name.
Bless Yahweh, O my soul,
and do not forget all his benefits:
who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with loyal love and mercies,
who satisfies your life with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Yahweh does deeds of justice
and judgments for all who are oppressed,
who made known his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people[b] of Israel.
Yahweh is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger[c] and abundant in loyal love.
He does not dispute continually,
nor keep his anger forever.
10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
nor repaid us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,
so his loyal love prevails over those who fear him.
12 As far as east is from west,
so he has removed far from us the guilt of our transgressions.
13 As a father pities[d] his children,
so Yahweh pities[e] those who fear him.

Psalm 103:22

22 Bless Yahweh, all his works,[a]
in all the places of his dominion.
Bless Yahweh, O my soul.

Ezekiel 16:44-52

44 Look! Everyone quoting a proverb[a] against you, he will quote, saying,[b] ‘Like her mother is her daughter!’ 45 You are a daughter of your mother who abhorred her husband and her children, and you are a sister of your sisters who abhorred their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite, and your father was an Amorite. 46 And your elder sister, she is Samaria, and her daughters, who are dwelling on your north, and your younger sister is the one dwelling on your south; she is Sodom and her daughters. 47 And you have not only gone in their ways, but[c] you also did according to their detestable things. In such a short time[d] you behaved more corruptly than they in all of your ways. 48 As surely as I live,’[e] declares[f] the Lord Yahweh, ‘surely your sister Sodom and her daughters did not do as[g] you and your daughters did. 49 Look! This was the iniquity of Sodom, your sister: Pride, abundance of food, and prosperous ease[h] was to her and to her daughters, and she did not sustain the needy and the poor.[i] 50 And they were proud, and they did a detestable thing before me,[j] and I removed them because[k] I saw it. 51 And Samaria did not sin according to even half of your sins,[l] and you caused your detestable things to increase more than they, and you made your sister righteous in comparison with all of your detestable things that you did.[m] 52 Also,[n] you bear your disgrace, by which you furnished justification to your sisters[o] through your sins by which you acted more abominably than they; they were more righteous than you, and also,[p] you be ashamed and bear your disgrace through your making your sister righteous.

2 Peter 1:1-11

Greeting

Simeon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a faith equal in value to ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, because his divine power has bestowed on us all things that are necessary for life and godliness, through the knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and excellence of character, through which things he has bestowed on us his precious and very great promises, so that through these you may become sharers of the divine nature after[a] escaping from the corruption that is in the world because of evil desire, and for this same reason, and by[b] applying all diligence, supply with your faith excellence of character, and with excellence of character, knowledge, and with knowledge, self-control, and with self-control, patient endurance, and with patient endurance, godliness, and with godliness, brotherly love, and with brotherly love, love.

Make Your Calling and Election Secure

For if[c] these things are yours and are increasing, this does not make you useless or unproductive in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For the one for whom these things are not present is blind, being nearsighted, having forgotten the cleansing[d] of his former sins. 10 Therefore, brothers, be zealous even more to make your calling and election secure, because if you[e] do these things, you will never ever stumble. 11 For in this way entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly supplied for you.
