Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
12 But when Peter saw this, he replied to the people, “Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this, or why do you gaze at us, as if by our own power or piety we had made him walk? 13 (A)The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, (B)the God of our fathers, has glorified His [a](C)servant Jesus, the one whom (D)you delivered and disowned in the presence of (E)Pilate, when he had (F)decided to release Him. 14 But you disowned (G)the Holy and Righteous One and (H)asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 but put to death the [b](I)Prince of life, the one whom (J)God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are (K)witnesses. 16 And on the basis of faith (L)in His name, it is [c]the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.
17 “And now, brethren, I know that you acted (M)in ignorance, just as your (N)rulers did also. 18 But the things which (O)God announced beforehand by the mouth of all the prophets, (P)that His [d]Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. 19 Therefore (Q)repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that (R)times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;
Evening Prayer of Trust in God.
[a]For the choir director; on stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.
4 (A)Answer me when (B)I call, O God [b]of my righteousness!
You have [c](C)relieved me in my distress;
Be (D)gracious to me and (E)hear my prayer.
2 O sons of men, how long will (F)my [d]honor become (G)a reproach?
How long will you love (H)what is worthless and aim at (I)deception? [e]Selah.
3 But know that the Lord has [f](J)set apart the (K)godly man for Himself;
The Lord (L)hears when I call to Him.
Children of God Love One Another
3 See [a](A)how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called (B)children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because (C)it did not know Him. 2 (D)Beloved, now we are (E)children of God, and (F)it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He (G)appears, we will be (H)like Him, because we will (I)see Him just as He is. 3 And everyone who has this (J)hope fixed on Him (K)purifies himself, just as He is pure.
4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and (L)sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that He (M)appeared in order to (N)take away sins; and (O)in Him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in Him (P)sins; no one who sins has seen Him or [b](Q)knows Him. 7 (R)Little children, make sure no one (S)deceives you; (T)the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;
Other Appearances
36 While they were telling these things, (A)He Himself stood in their midst and *said to them, “Peace be to you.” 37 But they were startled and frightened and thought that they were seeing (B)a spirit. 38 And He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your [a]hearts? 39 (C)See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; (D)touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40 And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41 While they still [b](E)could not believe it because of their joy and amazement, He said to them, “(F)Have you anything here to eat?” 42 They gave Him a piece of a broiled fish; 43 and He took it and (G)ate it before them.
44 Now He said to them, “(H)These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the (I)Law of Moses and the Prophets and (J)the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then He (K)opened their [c]minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and He said to them, “(L)Thus it is written, that the [d]Christ would suffer and (M)rise again from the dead the third day, 47 and that (N)repentance [e]for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed [f]in His name to (O)all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are (P)witnesses of these things.
