Psalm 107:1-3

BOOK V (Psalms 107-150)

Gratitude for God’s Deliverance

107 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
    His gracious love exists forever.
Let those who have been redeemed by the Lord declare it—
    those whom he redeemed
from the power[a] of the enemy,
those whom he gathered from other lands—
from the east, west, north, and south.[b]

Psalm 107:17-22

17 Because of their rebellious ways,
    fools suffered for their iniquities.
18 They[a] loathed all food,
and even reached the gates of death.
19 Yet when they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
he delivered them from certain destruction.
20 He issued his command[b] and healed them;
he delivered them from their destruction.
21 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his gracious love,
and for his awesome deeds for mankind.
22 Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving
and talk about his works with shouts of joy.

Genesis 9:8-17

Later, God told Noah and his sons, “Pay attention! I’m establishing my covenant with you and with your descendants after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you—the flying creatures, the livestock, and all the wildlife of the earth that are with you—all the earth’s animals that came out of the ark. 11 I will establish my covenant with you: No living beings will ever be cut off again by flood waters, and there will never again be a flood that destroys the earth.”

The Sign of God’s Covenant

12 God also said, “Here’s the symbol that represents the covenant that I’m making between me and you and every living being with you, for all future generations: 13 I’ve set my rainbow in the sky[a] to symbolize the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow becomes visible in the clouds, 15 I’ll remember my covenant between me and you and every living creature, so that water will never again become a flood to destroy all living beings. 16 When the rainbow is in the clouds, I will observe it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living beings on the earth.”

17 God also told Noah, “This is the symbol of the covenant that I’ve established between me and everything[b] that lives on the earth.”

Ephesians 1:3-6

The Many Blessings of Salvation

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah![a] He has blessed us in the Messiah[b] with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm, just as he chose us in the Messiah[c] before the creation of the universe[d] to be holy and blameless in his presence. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself through Jesus the Messiah,[e] according to the pleasure of his will, so that we would praise[f] his glorious grace that he gave us in the Beloved One.
