⁴⁶ Then Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord.

⁴⁷ “And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.

⁴⁸ “For He has looked on the poor degree of His servant. For behold, from now on all ages shall call me blessed.

⁴⁹ “Because He Who is mighty has done great things for me, and Holy is His Name.

⁵⁰ “And His mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear Him.

⁵¹ “He Who showed strength with His arm, He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

⁵² “He has put down the mighty from their seats and exalted those of low degree.

⁵³ “He has filled the hungry with good things and sent away the rich empty.

⁵⁴ “He has upheld Israel, His servant, to be mindful of His mercy,

⁵⁵ “(as He has spoken to our fathers – that is, to Abraham and his seed) forever.”

¹⁹ Then they rose up early and worshipped before the LORD and returned and came to their house, to Ramah. Now Elkanah knew Hannah, his wife. And the LORD remembered her.

²⁰ For in process of time, Hannah conceived and bore a son. And she called his name, Samuel, saying, “Because, I have asked for him from the LORD.”

²¹ So, the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer to the LORD the yearly sacrifice and his vow.

²² But Hannah did not go up; for she said to her husband, “I will wait until the child is weaned; then I will bring him, so that he may appear before the LORD and stay there forever.

²³ And Elkanah, her husband, said to her, “Do what seems best to you. Wait until you have weaned him. Only, may the LORD accomplish His Word.” So, the woman waited and nursed her son until she had weaned him.

²⁴ And when she had weaned him, she took him with her with three bullocks and an ephah of flour and a bottle of wine and brought him to the House of the LORD in Shiloh. And the child was young.

²⁵ And they killed a bull and brought the child to Eli.

²⁶ And she said, “Oh, my lord! As your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood with you here praying to the LORD!

²⁷ “I prayed for this child; and the LORD has given me my desire which I asked of Him.

²⁸ “Therefore, I also have given him to the LORD. As long as he lives, he shall be given to the LORD.” And he worshipped the LORD there.

8 Now of the things which we have spoken, this is the sum: that we have such a High Priest Who sits at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in Heaven,

² and is a Minister of the Sanctuary, and of the true Tabernacle (which the Lord pitched, and not man).

³ For every High Priest is ordained to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore, it was necessary that this Man also have something to offer.

⁴ For if He were on the Earth, He would not be a priest, seeing there are priests that offer gifts according to the Law,

⁵ who serve the pattern and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was instructed by God when he was about to finish the Tabernacle. “See,” said He, “that you make all things according to the pattern shown to you on the mountain.”

⁶ But now, our High Priest has obtained a more excellent office, inasmuch as He is the Mediator of a better Testament, which is established upon better promises.

⁷ For if that first Testament had been blameless, no place would have been sought for the second.

⁸ For in rebuking them He said, “‘Behold, the days will come,’ says the Lord, ‘when I shall make a new Testament with the House of Israel and with the House of Judah -

⁹ ‘unlike the Testament that I made with their fathers on the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt. For they did not continue in my Testament. And I disregarded them,’ says the Lord.

¹⁰ “For this is the Testament that I will make with the House of Israel, ‘After those days,’ says the Lord, ‘I will put My Laws in their mind, And I will write them on their heart. And I will be their God. And they shall be my people.

¹¹ ‘And no one shall teach his neighbor, or every man his brother, saying, “Know the Lord.” For all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.

¹² ‘For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness. And I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more.’”

¹³ In saying, “a New Testament”, He has rendered the first obsolete. Now that which has aged and grown old is ready to vanish.
