Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
A Psalm of Thanksgiving for God’s Justice.
For the choir director; on [a]Muth-labben. A Psalm of David.
9 I will give thanks to the Lord with all (A)my heart;
I will (B)tell of all Your [b]wonders.
2 I will be glad and (C)exult in You;
I will (D)sing praise to Your name, O (E)Most High.
3 When my enemies turn back,
They stumble and (F)perish before You.
4 For You have (G)maintained [c]my just cause;
You have sat on the throne [d](H)judging righteously.
5 You have (I)rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked;
You have (J)blotted out their name forever and ever.
6 [e]The enemy has come to an end in perpetual ruins,
And You have uprooted the cities;
The very (K)memory of them has perished.
7 But the (L)Lord [f]abides forever;
He has established His (M)throne for judgment,
8 And He will (N)judge the world in righteousness;
He will execute judgment for the peoples with equity.
9 [g]The Lord also will be a (O)stronghold for the oppressed,
A stronghold in times of trouble;
10 And [h]those who (P)know Your name will put their trust in You,
For You, O Lord, have not (Q)forsaken those who seek You.
11 Sing praises to the Lord, who (R)dwells in Zion;
(S)Declare among the peoples His deeds.
12 For (T)He who [i]requires blood remembers them;
He does not forget (U)the cry of the afflicted.
13 Be gracious to me, O Lord;
See my affliction from those (V)who hate me,
You who (W)lift me up from the gates of death,
14 That I may tell of (X)all Your praises,
That in the gates of the daughter of Zion
I may (Y)rejoice in Your [j]salvation.
God’s Favor to Zion
2 [a]Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, there was a man with a (A)measuring line in his hand. 2 So I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To (B)measure Jerusalem, to see how wide it is and how long it is.” 3 And behold, the (C)angel who was speaking with me was going out, and another angel was coming out to meet him, 4 and said to him, “Run, speak to that (D)young man, saying, ‘(E)Jerusalem will be inhabited [b](F)without walls because of the (G)multitude of men and cattle within it. 5 For I,’ declares the Lord, ‘will be a (H)wall of fire [c]around her, and I will be the (I)glory in her midst.’”
The Flying Scroll
5 Then I lifted up my eyes again and looked, and behold, there was a flying (A)scroll. 2 And he said to me, “(B)What do you see?” And I answered, “I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty [a]cubits and its width ten cubits.” 3 Then he said to me, “This is the (C)curse that is going forth over the face of the whole [b]land; surely everyone who (D)steals will be purged away according to [c]the writing on one side, and everyone who (E)swears will be purged away according to [d]the writing on the other side. 4 I will (F)make it go forth,” declares the Lord of hosts, “and it will (G)enter the house of the (H)thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by My name; and it will spend the night within that house and (I)consume it with its timber and stones.”
Christian Conduct
12 But we request of you, brethren, that you [a](A)appreciate those (B)who diligently labor among you, and (C)have charge over you in the Lord and give you [b]instruction, 13 and that you esteem them very highly in love because of their work. (D)Live in peace with one another. 14 We urge you, brethren, admonish (E)the [c]unruly, encourage (F)the fainthearted, help (G)the weak, be (H)patient with everyone. 15 See that (I)no one repays another with evil for evil, but always (J)seek after that which is good for one another and for all people. 16 (K)Rejoice always; 17 (L)pray without ceasing; 18 in everything (M)give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
