Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the Law of the LORD. And on His Law does he meditate day and night.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, that will bring forth her fruits in due season; whose leaf shall not fade. So, whatever he shall do shall prosper.
The wicked are not so; but are as the chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
For the LORD knows the way of the righteous. And the way of the wicked shall perish.
Also, these things pertain to the wise: It is not good to show partiality to any person in judgment.
He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous”, the people shall curse him. And the multitude shall abhor him.
But to those who rebuke him, shall be pleasure. And upon them shall come the blessing of goodness.
They shall kiss the lips of him who answers uprightly.
Prepare your outside work and make ready your things in the field. And afterward, build your house.
Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, and deceive with your lips.
Do not say, “I will do to him as he has done to me. I will recompense every man according to his work.”
I passed by the field of the slothful; and by the vineyard of the man destitute of understanding.
And lo, it was all grown over with thorns; nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
Then I looked. I considered it well. I looked at it and received instruction.
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep.
So your poverty comes as drifter, and your necessity like an armed man.
“You search the Scriptures. For in them you think to have eternal life. And they are they which testify of Me.
“But you will not come to Me, that you might have life.
“I do not receive the praise of man.
“But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.
“I have come in My Father’s Name, and you do not receive Me. If another shall come in his own name, him you will receive!
How can you believe, when you receive honor one from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from God alone?
“Do not think that I will accuse you to My Father. There is one who accuses you - Moses, in whom you trust.
“For had you believed Moses you would have believed Me. For he wrote of Me.
“But if you do not believe his writings, how shall you believe My words?”
